Congrats on your 12 year anniversary!

I started collecting vintage toys about 20 yrs ago. On my way to work I passed a neat-looking antique shop everyday. They had a lot of cool vintage soda-pop signs on the outside of their store. One day, for the heck of it, I stopped to visit. I never knew this "kind of world" existed. The 1st thing that caught my eye was an Incredible Hulk Metal Lunchbox ( with Thermos ). It was in MINT shape & only $8.00. I walked around the store with it & then found one of those Vintage Fisher Price Pull-Toys, the Bumble Bee. I loved that toy as a kid so had to get that. I got both items for $10.00...that started me on my quest & I have been to 7 million garage sales, flea markets, toy shows, estate sales, etc...ever since!!

A little of this and a little of that and before you know it!

A garage full of boxes and no cars!

And only a small room to display some of it!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

Collecting is fun... it makes me crazy... but I think I kinda have it under control. It's true, though, sometimes you branch out from Mego or whatever you started with. Here is where Mego has led me:

            ToyBiz FC/Hasbro DC
            Star Trek Playmates
            Mattel Big Jim
            Gabirel Lone Ranger

            JamesD

            THANKS!

Believe it or don't there once was a time that I would not even phathom the thought of going to a garage sale. Now that I do when going to sales I like most here at TMM drive through various subdivisions and see houses with garages just like yours (so don't feel bad) I kind of laugh (even know it may not be funny to some so please take no offense) when I see the garages of others like that because that is pretty much exactly what I see when alot of others have their garage doors open as I drive through the various subdivisions. I also drive by the houses thinking I just wonder if those people have any Mego's in there somewhere that they are either holding on to (collecting) or may part with some day? I think jokingly every once in a while about going door to door in the subdivisions like the salesmen used to do back in the old days. Only instead of me selling something I would actually be trying to buy Megos. I just know every time that I go to a store that myself as well as others are bound to be sitting on a whole "S-load" of HotWheels in their basements, attics, garages, storage places etc. you name it. I am using HotWheels just as one example. There is Star Wars, GI. Joe and plenty of other stuff as well. I think this because when I go and buy a lot of them myself over and over I always see a lot of peg warmers left over. I go back in a day or so and the peg warmers are even gone as well. Mostly pretty quickly around my part of the Earth. Then in another day the pegs are restocked with a fresh case or two and the madness starts all over again. Kind of like bowling pins being reset after you knock them down. Time after time I tell myself that I am actually going to quit collecting those darn HotWheels, but like a magnet they just keep drawing me in time after time. I just truly wonder that now with the quantities of everything being so massed produced these days that if they will even have any real value in the future. Every time I go to the flea markets I see like every other stand has HotWheels for sale and lots of them. HotWheels are all over eBay and Craig's list on a daily basis. I wish I could stop, but I have not been able to fight the addiction so to speak. I would much rather be buying more Mego's. That is what I really like to collect the most these days. The only problem is that one cannot always easily obtain Mego's in groves like HotWheels. I picked up another two bunches of the silly little cars today. I love them! The cool one's that is anyway. I am trying to over come my passion of buying everything. Speaking of which getting back to your garage picture. How much for that Dukes of Hazzard trash can? Doh!!! See there I go again!!! BTW I am only kidding about buying the Dukes of Hazzard trash can I need it just as bad as I am sure that you are willing to sell it.

I collect lotsa things: Mego's, other 70s action figures, a variety of dolls, comic books, coloring books, (as Brian will attest to!), Star Trek, Shaun Cassidy, classic Saturday morning cartoons, records, Atari 2600 games, board games, old radio shows, etc. Lately I've been trying to keep a reign on how much and what I buy, 'cos I got my toyroom looking just so, and I don't wanna junk it up. I don't think I'll sell my stuff though. Walking in my toyroom always puts a smile on my face, and I paid good money for my stuff and I'm not about to part w/ it.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

The new stuff will probably only be collectible if it has been opened and played with! In the 90's everything came out Limited Edition , Collectible...

I buy stuff I like and eventually open them. A lot of the boxes in my garage are car magazines dating from the late 60's early 70's. Close to 40 years worth of subscriptions! I had hoped to build a garage for my cars and put the magazines in binders on shelves for reference but Kids, Life and health issues prevent that right now. Moved into a smaller house with a better school districtfor my kids but have no attic or basement storage. I filled this garage up and can't find the time to dig into it much.

Got the one space in my attic finished off for my playroom and was able to unpack some things.

                            I am a Collectorholic!

My kids will have fun with this stuff when I am gone!
