    Reposting this from another thread..

I just saw it today and have to say I think it's getting a bad rap. maybe spillover from the firts one being a bit lame. But I thought this very good. I agree with a previous poster in that things need to be done in such a way that it can be wrapped with the movie. It also has to be accessible to people who may not be familair with the comics. Plenty of classic FF style stuff and loved the intro of the Fantasticar! Some comic book concepts require more tweaking than others. I don't think they did anything here that was so terrible.

Sorry guys, but I have to repsectfully disagree. I thoroughly loved the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. I felt it was better than the first movie, but you what? I loved it too. I've always wanted to see the FF in live action and no, not the cheesy, stupid, retarded Roger Corman flick of the early 90's.

The cast did a marvelous job. Gruffud, Alba, Chiklis, and Evans along with the guy who played Dr. Doom had great interaction. There were some great humorous moments along with Stan Lee's cameo. And the Silver Surfer was totally awesome, both physically and by vocal performance by Lawrence Fishburne.

The only complaint I have was not actually seeing Galactus. That royally sucked. But otherwise, it was a great movie and I loved the Fantasticar. And I hope they make a third movie. My vote for worst Super Hero movie is a tie between Hulk and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.

      Cheers.

^^^ what he said, and if FF2 was as good as Van Helsing, that's not saying much.

            Hey guys---bump-itty-bump!

            I saw it.

            Decent movie.

Real good until they had to start wrapping things up
            with GALACTUS----too rushed---and/or no real
connection between the audience (us) and the GALACTUS character.

I thought the first one just had a lot of great moments and
            no really good plot.

This one had a lot of great moments---and actually had a decent plot
albeit one that fell flat near the end.

Yeah??? ...I thought I'd give my input--- seems nobody should mind.

I thought FF:ROTSS was fun enough to comment in the positive
(and I surely didn't have the "comic geek" hangups to deal with mentally
as I don't really know the comic's version of this story)
...yet I also wanted to reiterate the wishy-washy "Galactus aspect"
                others mentioned here.

SUPERMAN 3 is easily better than both FF movies.

Although I must admit that the interplay between the F4 and DOOM
was better characterization than SUPERMAN III could hope to achieve.

If you think the first FF was better than the 2nd, I think you're
crazy because I don't think the first one's plot had anything to offer---
but I note your opinion regardless.

FF2 really wasted an opportunity with the Silver Surfer and Galactus. And the power switching bit was idiotic. The movie would have been better off Doom-less. Since this appears to be it for this series, wonder if it will eventually get a Hulk and Superman like reboot.

                    I appreciate your summation.

I did read through the thread and noted the gist of the SS/Galactus
disappointment----of course mine was based more on the lack of
character from a REAL minimal standpoint...I mean the movie-goer
never even gets to see real interaction between Galactus and SS---
that would've helped---and taking Doom out probably could've made room
for more of "that"---however, I have to admit----I really like
that take on Doom and the actor who plays him.

To me? At the very least, this is another example of to many villains
pulling a movie apart---which you'd think was something they'd be careful
about knowing they had four main hero characters to begin with.

As far as re-boots go...Hulk---I didn't like the style at all---I was fine
with a complete reimagining (I STILL haven't seen 2008's though)
---however, I hear rumors that certain cast and crew of SR may be involved
in a reboot of Superman and I'd hope the same for F4---the franchises
seemed to really have their hearts in the right places---but they were
biting off more than they could chew at the same time with plot editing
defecincies is how I see it.

I thought the two Nolan-Batman movies had plot problems too---but
obviously not enough to affect you (t-bolt) or the masses.

Sometimes I wonder what the "qualifications" are to "reboot" something.

those two---I would have made Reed 40 or 45 years old

I still thought this was a better movie than Spider-Man 3 overall. Galactus did disappoint, but other than that, a fun popcorn flick. Spidey 3 had parts that made you squirm in the theater (the Jazz Club scene) and just say "***?" (Sandman kills Uncle Ben). Plus it was just rushed all throughout.

Yeah---had a good time at SPIDEY 3---but man was that a mess
of a movie---especially after the first two were so solid.

well i'm a big fan of the lee-kirby ff. i even liked the cartoon too. and both movies i though were terrible. no direction, bad casting, dr. doom was nothing like doom in the comics which is sad cause i like the actor from nip/tuck. not showing galactus at the end i think was a sham to anyone who would pay to see this stinker. jessica alba looked good but that's not enough to save both movies.

Yup!! feel the Same!!! Reboot this movie series!!!! Cast The Actors Correctly Please!!!! Older Reed, A Real Blonde for Sue and NO Thing in a Costume!!!!! It sucks!!! I'd Rather have a CG Thing!!! then in the future you could have a Hulk FF crossover like in the comics. The guy who played Johnny Storm (and Jessica in the tight outfit) was actually the best things from the movies.

and How do you make Dr.Doom one of the most badass villans in the marvel Universe freekin annoying!!!

The Mistake was rushing the second movie and not doing the Galactus trilogy correctly. making Galactus a cloud *** was that all about? and no Watcher was a slap in the face to Hardcore FF fans like myself.

When Jessica Alba was at the MTV Movie Awards she called Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer the best family/comedy of the summer. That alone should spell disaster for a superhero film.
