    Batman R.i.p. Pt 1

Well, the first part of this story has come out, and Guess what? it's a huge piece of crap. saddly it starts off with a shadowed in batman and robin yelling batman and robin will never die. (wow, how original and exciting! then it takes us back 6 months and continues from there, it introduces us to some lame looking new villians who must have the dummest outfits in comic book villian history. And the Joker now officially looks the way he does in the new upcoming movie, Perhaps, even acting like him. The new Batmobile is introduced,( very similiar to the new animated series batmobile with a few twists) So, far I do not like the way this story is heading, the stuff in it nor the plot. time shall tell if it gets better or not.
What do you all think? fell free to let me know, I want to know.

I'm gonna wait for the trade. Sounds like the opening in the shadows features the new Batman and whoever Robin may be (if Tim Drake takes up the lead gig).

With Morrison, this could go either way. Everything that's been "leaked" could be a red herring. But I'm out of monthly books right now, and while my rabid-bat-disease makes me kind of curious, I feel fine in waiting this one out. I don't want to plunk down $3 just to get ticked off.

Not sure who this mysterious "Black Glove" is that's out to get Batman (as referenced in "DC Universe #0") but I have a hunch it could be Batman himself...in which case Grant Morrison would be ripping off "Untold Legend of the Batman". That's my theory based on the vague solicitations I've read so far as to what the heck this storyline is all about.

...and Dick will have to put on Thomas Wayne's Batman costume to snap him out of it!

If so (and that's a good theory there Anthony) it wouldn't be the first time Morrison "repurposed" an old story in his own weird way.

As much a fan of Batman as I am, I haven't picked up a regular, mainstream Batman title since before Bane and Az-Bat (Jean-Paul Valley Azrael AKA Batman). I was just overwhelmed by the idea of an event running through all of the Batman titles.

I read the Hush storyline. I think I was one of three people that wasn't overwhelmingly disappointed by it. Although I think it ended kind of hollow. But that seemed like a writer-artist gimmick, more than a genuine story. Like the Superman For Tomorrow storyline.

I picked up a trade of Paul Dini's stuff in Detective. That was pretty good.

I'm probably not going to pick this up either by issue or by trade. It just sounds like a gimmick. Instead of working on story-driven stories, it's all wrapped up in the gimmick.

Besides, I juts picked up the Showcase Presents Batman and the Outsiders and that reminded me what a odd, cool title that was. I only grabbed the first twelve or so. Can't wait for Volume 2 of that one!

Are you guys familiar with some of the rumors floating around RIP regarding Thomas Wayne and Alfred? What do you think? I hope they don't go that route.

I guess they can always retcon it.

Spoil away Twilitezoner. I am unaware of those rumors.

Well, I did hear someone mention the Outsider, which was Alfred's evil alter ego, but that's it.

If Thomas Wayne is coming back from the dead, he might as well do it now. With Bucky, Jason Todd and Barry Allen back, him and Uncle Ben have to be next.

I heard bits and pieces about Alfred being the "Black Glove"...haven't heard anything though on Thomas Wayne...is this all they've got left up their sleeves? Either one seems like the "easy" way out...a gimmick, if you will, just to shake things up. I'd rather see it be Bruce Wayne himself...have him go through a psychotic episode. Seems more plausible than raising the dead (Thomas Wayne) or trampling on ground that's already been covered several times over (Alfred as the Outsider).
