    Darwyn Cooke

    So bummed to read this.

    This is brutal news.

Darwyn Cooke’s family has put out this statement:

“It is with tremendous sadness that we announce Darwyn is now receiving palliative care following a bout with aggressive cancer. His brother Dennis and I, along with our families appreciate the outpouring of support we have received. We ask for privacy as we go through this very difficult time.”

Cooke is one of my absolute favorite artists. His art helped bring me back to comics after a lengthy absence. We wish him and his family all comfort.

Positive thoughts and prayers to one of my favorite comic creators.

Best wishes out to Darwyn. He is one of my favoeite artists. Loved me New Frontier! Met him last year in Baltimore, and he was very nice.

Jeez, I'm so sad to hear this. I wish Darwyn the best as he battles this. New Frontier is masterful. I'm suddenly reminded of other favorite artists Mike Parobeck and Don Newton.

Sad to read this and hoping for the best. He is one of those artists whose style is easy to recognize and I was an instant fan of it. I love New Frontier, his work on The Spirit, and his Parker books.

Wow. I truly pray he comes through healthy. One of those great talents that should be leading the industry direction.

I read stuff like this, and it reminds me that I never got over the passing of Ringo.

I was shocked to find out at the Toronto Comics Arts Festival today... they made an announcement and made well wishes to Cooke at the opening ceremonies. Cooke was a HUGE supporter of the event, since the first year and has been a frequent guest and booster.

If the latest rumblings are true, he's passed away. Very sorry to hear about this - especially to the family and friends who knew him beyond his body of work (which was more than enough to put the guy on a pedestal). One of my all-time favorites.

Updated updates: seems there was some doubt about this, some of the sources had pulled thier posts but an update to his personal blog confirms now what we heard via freinds’ of his. By Salgoo…

Ugh, so sad to hear it. I loved his work a great deal and he was also one of us.

Everytime he was interviewed for the Space Channel you could see his Captain Action and GI Joe collection behind him.

That is such a tragic shame. I have nothing but profound respect for any artist that can make elegant, strong linework look easy. What beautiful, joyous images he produced. My condolences to his friends and family.
