I would like to visit the alternate timeline where they went with this look and watch the nerd rage, it would have pretty spectacular and kind of justifiable.

I'm not going to wade through this video but I do fear that sites like RT will lose all credibility soon, 29% isn't IMO an accurate portrayal of this film at all and seems to be almost backlash or as you say, some taking sides.

People en masse now have power to really screw something up.

This movie has fans divided, even i admit it liked it but didn't love it. I just don't think that rating is deserved for a film such as this.

That was a great discussion. Chris I really enjoyed hearing what you and Cindy said. Just for the record, I have not seen the movie yet. There was so much debate leading up to opening day that the combination of those discussions along with the extremely critical reviews by those whom I tend to agree with have muted my interest to spend three hours in a theater watching portrayals I can't agree with. I've read enough to know the entire story and what I see I just can't embrace at this point. Looking forward to Civil War and getting Deadpool on Blu Ray later this year. BVS just feels like a total downer by every perspective that counts for me. I was not a big fan of MOS and this movie sounds like Snyder took everything people didn't like about that movie and doubled down to make them suffer more in this one. I'm just not interested in taking that journey if the entertainment quality is that much in question. It sounds like Watchmen characters masquerading in more popular DC costumes.

^The Watchmen interpretation is a valid one. Snyder has said it's a "spiritual sequel" to it, or some such.

Snyder also played lip service to addressing some of the criticisms leveled at MoS, particularly all of the destruction. There are two lines in this film telling us the battle areas are largely abandoned. But then the dark, dour tone, and the just wanton carnage is amped up to 11.

The more I think about this film, the less I like it. Its really telling that I have no real desire to see it again any time soon.

Honestly...I hope the movie ends up a financial disappointment so DC will reboot their movie franchise again with a lighter tone and more Super Friends approach. I have no desire to go any further into this universe. Grunge Aquaman and punk Flash hold ZERO interest for me.

I would LOVE to see the Super Friends tackling natural disasters and such then taking on Darkseid or the Legion of Doom. Imagine a live action Hall of Justice or Hall of Doom rising out of the swamp...that's my dream DC movie.

Contractual, usually. It's so you can make out who the actor is.

What I love is Special Ops soldiers use HUD or nightvision goggles...and Batman has been based on "real-tech" for a decade...but he apparently needs everyone to see his emoting eyes...

I think the tag line I get sick of hearing in so many Batman movies is the "Dark Knight Returns influence". I'm TIRED of hearing about Frank Miller and his stories. That might be one of the underlying reasons why I give Joel Schumacher a break on his films,(even though I know he wanted to do a Frank Miller style himself). Where is a Jim Aparo style Batman? Wouldn't fans everywhere soil their drawers if WB had the nerve to do a Neil Adams Batman? We've yet to see Batman truly be the world's greatest detective. He remains this one note black and grey ghost that forever hides in self analytical gloom. What a day it would be if somehow, someway, Warner Bros figured out it's okay to let him put on his blue and grey garb and BE the hero we all grew up reading.

Oddly enough, Jim Aparo is thanked at the end of the film, among many comic creators. Some make perfect sense: Miller, Dan Jurgens, Jerry Ordway, etc. But I imagine folks like Aparo and Curt Swan (who is also thanked ) would be asking themselves "What the hell was that?!?" were they alive to see this film.

I really do appreciate the gesture of acknowledging the comic influences and creators, but I just wish more of that influence was on screen.

I did LOVE that Bill Finger got credit in Batman's creation.

And TV's DD cowl now has a nose, go figure.

I enjoyed listening to your fire and water podcast panel. I wasn't sold on seeing it in the theater. So spoilers don't bother me I'll see it on DVD. If 5/6 say it's bad I believe it , I usually agree the majority consensus on comic films other than I like IM 3, Daredevil, and Watchmen and disliked Hulk (2008) and Thor 2.

I think alot of people want to DCU to survive in cinematic form. And I thought for sure BVS would have tried to redeem themselves from the criticisms of Man of Steel but this one is probably much worse. I wonder if Suicide Squad will be something different and if DC fans will get into it. Batfleck will have a cameo so they will be connected.

^Thanks for listening. Shag liked it. Siskoid wasn't overly impressed, but didn't hate it. Cindy and I were on the fence, but didn't care for it overall. Rob liked Aquaman. And Ryan hated all of it. It was actually a pretty even treatment of it, I thought.

I don't think people will care about how Suicide Squad handles the characters like the did in BvS. Joker and Harley are the only iconic characters in it, and they are villains. I think it has a better chance of being far less divisive.

                                SPOILER.

WW with kryptonite spear = win. No need for Superman to take a risk. Supes/Bats one comedy line didn't sit very well with the tone of this movie "Supes: Is she with you, Bats: no I thought she was with you?" Bats already knows who she is?
