"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix -
Yeah I'm surprised a set-up Justice League film didn't have many redeeming qualities for Rob or Ryan Daly. If there wasn't an oversaturation of superheroes I might have biten the bullet. I can't justify paying for this after seeing Man of Steel. Oh well on the brightside we got 4 more coming.
Next showing: Civil WarComment

Came back from seeing it....It's good and not so good. Affleck was Great, Cavill was good and Gadot was freaking HOT!! lol.
Doomsday was horrible CGI the hell they ran out of money? Aquaman even though looked badarse got about 3 minutes of screen time....lol and the Flash was pathetically bad.
Wonder Woman totally stole the show, I enjoyed every minute of her screen time. Theater roared when she appeared in full outfit.
Affleck's Batman was so badarse fought like Batman should, the suit was great and his voice....lol Cavill's Superman needs to be written better;he doubts himself way too much.
My problem I had was mostly with the movie was the amalgamated and truncated versions of The Dark Knight and Superman vs Doomsday. I would have preferred something more original than those two books that are just played out. I always despised the gimmicky Doomsday story.
I give it a 7 out of 10
I'll own it someday when it's in the 5 dollar bin.....lolComment

BVS not just in a nose dive but breaking records for the worst fall in this genre during it's second weekend. Friday to Friday drop is a breathtaking 81%. Early estimates for the entire weekend have it plunging 70% but that could move higher as the weekend progresses. Overseas markets have seen this film also drop 71%, so the fall is on a global scale. WB might massage the idea of Snyder doing the Justice League, but if they're smart they'll take pause and look hard at this assessment and realize they're headed in the wrong direction...fast.Comment

I already thought SS would be markedly different.
If this ^^^ is the case... I'd guess the director/writer already wanted it to resonate differently than BvS (i.e. he wanted it to be good)... so, I'm assuming that originally WB had the director/writer in some chains that are now being loosened a bit."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

My life long friend Chris (Emeraldknight) and I were discussing this earlier today and I mentioned that I felt Snyder is pretty much like the Rob Zombie of this genre. Like Zombie, he has a great gift for creating strong visuals, but all of his characters are essentially one note, unlikable, people that you seldom care for because their motivations are paper-thin, while their desire to be selfish and careless abound with a kind of recklessness (and crudeness) that makes you wonder if the director mistakenly considers this charm. And both are even worse storytellers no matter who is penning the script because they're both in a hurry to get to the next spectacle instead of building exposition to rationalize why these events occur. In my eyes, Snyder was just never the guy I could have seen leading the general public into the DC Universe because he simply doesn't create likable characters and tends to endear himself to dark and mostly negative connotations about the human condition. Most of his characters are reluctant participants who never seem comfortable in their own skin, least of all as a hero. And, to me, no matter how you write these films, there always needs to be a villain ten fold more unlikable (or doing really unlikable things) that promote the pageantry of the hero stepping up and beating the odds. When you have both sides frowning and acting unlikable, there's little contrast and even less to root for (with me anyway).Comment

The problem for Snyder is he was never supposed to be the creative force behind DCU; it was supposed to David Goyer and The Nolans. But when MOS imploded the Legendary/WB deal, the Nolans left with Legendary and Goyer had no more supporters. That left a huge opening for Ratner and Affleck to fill the void. They pushed out Goyer and Snyder decided to indulge the hell out of himself by shooting every damn thing he wanted, and he got away with because everyone else involved wanted to put there fingerprints on iconic moments, whether it was in service to the story or not.
They only thing they didn't do was Death In The Family and Killing Joke, yet, Snyder's admitted those were in earlier drafts. That werrd-*** Flash scene was shot on the fly and only because they thought it would be a good whatthef scene.
I really think a lot of this, more than we're considering, was predicated on "Don't Be Marvel". I should make a breakdown list.Comment

It's breathtaking to see this film (and property of this magnitude) not grossing nearly as much as Deadpool did. A completely unknown property beating one that has been popular for 80 years is staggering to consider, let alone watch. It just goes to show you that the size of the production does not always equate to quality or value in what the public deems entertaining in this genre. Deadpool cost $56 million to make and BVS will not even match that figure in it's second weekend out. I never thought this little movie would even be in this conversation, let alone one about BVS not making as much. I wonder if this collapse will do to Snyder what Van Helsing did to Stephen Sommers?Comment
