How Batman Would Beat The Entire Avengers In A Fight, According To Max Landis

Max Landis is a screenwriter and director, son of John Landis.

    CinemaBlend article:

There’s one fight that most people probably haven’t pictured Batman in: going up against Marvel’s Avengers. Well, screenwriter Max Landis has been thinking about it, and he has it all worked out how Batman would win.

    Let the games begin!

Some of the comments are interesting...

The conclusion, while true-ish, is arrived in the silliest of ways. Batman is more clever than that. He has the advantage of psychology. He knows what they are thinking, and he's going to exploit that.

First, he's got to split them up. Cap is a boy-scout, and Batman (as admitted by himself) is not fundamentally good. He's going to set up some disaster on the other side of town that he knows Cap can take care of, but is going to be distracted.

Iron Man is smarter than Batman, more ingenious, but perhaps not as clever. Iron Man is selfish and overconfident, and hence his weakness. Similar to Cap, I think Batman kidnaps Pots and sets up a trap for Iron Man who likely falls into it.

Thor is a blunt instrument. Difficult (if not impossible) for Batman to take on in direct combat, but as predictable as a sheep.

Widow and Hawkeye are, perhaps surprisingly, the biggest problems as they are the least predictable. Both, however, have some uncertain and unpleasant pasts. Batman is a detective, and he'll know what this is. He might be able to bargain them out of a fight. Alternatively, he might be able to win in a direct fight with judicious use of his Bat-devices; e.g. maybe remotely trigger Hawkeye's exploding arrows to just explode on his back. Widow might have an upper-hand in a straight hand-to-hand fight, so he might have to use gas or something.

The Hulk has to get mad. Batman appeals to Bruce Banner in a clever way; takes the desire to fight out of him. If for some reason this doesn't work, he improvises and manages to get the Hulk to fight one of the other Avenger's.

This is, of course, all giving Batman a head-start, planning, etc. You throw him in a ring with all of them and he gets instantly annihilated -- that's simply not Batman's shtick.

        Another reader's comment...

Batman's only super power is plot armor, plain and simple. The fans and writers have made him way more powerful than he actually is. In the scenario used above, it's assumed that each attempt will work flawlessly. Don't you think people have tried to knock out the Hulk with drugs before? How often has it worked? EMP vs Ironman or Vision? If it's so simple why doesn't every villain try this? LOL. Batman is becoming a walking joke. Though once he was one of my favorite heroes, the lustful fanboys have made him annoying to the point I can't take him seriously.

In my opinion, all but Black Widow would easily beat Batman in a one-on-one fight. They either have the greater strength and reflexes to destroy him or flight and/or ranged attacks to stay out of Batman's range

Does anyone else think John Landis gave one too many hugs?

So...when Max Landis put his little Death of Superman rant online a few years back, was he baiting "celebrity" starved DC, trying to get work? Or am I giving him too much credit.

He's directing Man of Steel II? I hope there're no helicopters in the shoot...

BTW, I love Batman but it amazes me how current writing and the modern zeitgeist of the character has made me loathe him.
