I know there are a ton of DC people on here. I would like to know what your top 5 JLA and top 5 Superman stories are. I have been a Marvel guy since 1972 and I would like to pick up some DC TPBs but not sure which ones are good. I have read Crisis on Infinite Earths and a few others. Or maybe your best DC stories except for Batman. I have about 3 long boxes of Batman which I have read. I have read the Green Lantern Green Arrow team up from the early 70s and loved that. I just what to get some ideas. Besides the things I have mentioned my DC knowledge is for the most part based on the Superfriends, movies and tv shows. Thanks.

there was a Superman crossover in the early 90's called Panic in the Sky, that was a real good one.
the whole death of, reign of the Supermen and return of Superman was an entertaining read, no matter what it did to the industry in the long run.
those are the two that immediately come to mind -
Start with Kingdom Come. It's an alternate future story about generational differences and the passing down of morality and values but is also a love letter to the great DC books of the 70s and early 80s. It is simply my favorite story ever put to print in any format.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

Scott's right Kingdom Come is excellent. New Frontier is even better in my opinion but with a very different art style.
I'd also suggest the Crisis on Multiple Earths collected editions. There are 6 of them and they reprint all the Justice League-Justice Society team-ups dating back to the early 1960s. Vol. 5 reprints the first JLA vs. Darkseid 3-part story with Perez art on 2/3s of the story. But all the volumes are fun. The idea of Crisis on Infinite Earths really sprung from those summer team-ups which started in 1963 and ran every summer up to DC's post-crisis relaunch. You don't need to read the volumes in order.
Other collections: Justice League of America Herby Elects: collects stories where characters like Green Arrow, Zantanna, Hawkman, Elongated Man join the team.

Even though it's a cross-over with another company I think JLA/Avengers is one of the greatest Justice League stories ever told.

You're right, Ed, Red Son and Bizzaro World should have been on my list. Mark Millar wrote several issues of Superman Adventures (based on the animated Superman) that were really solid one and done Superman stories. They were collected in a smaller size digest. Those stories are really fun, too. Who'd have thunk Millar writing an all-ages comic.
What's so fun about the Crisis collections is that it not only features the JLA-JSA teacup, but many of them add in other DC teams like Earth 3 Crime Syndicate, Seven Soldiers of Victory, Freedom Fighters, New Gods, Viking/Western/Pioneer characters, Fawcett characters (Shazam), the Legion of Super heroes. Just fun to see that mix and match of so many characters.Comment

Teen Titans vs. X-Men. that is probably a top five all time comics for me and was my first real introduction to TT. Walt Simonson did artwork and it is classic in every sense of the word.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
