I'm NOT a comicbook guy persay (just a HUGE Superman/DC fan), but I felt the need to mention that I think the two Alan Moore stories "For the Man Who Has Everything" and "Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" are two of the greatest superhero stories I've ever read.

Also, I've never even read Joe Kelly's "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?" BUT the animated movie based on it (Superman Vs. The Elite) is my favorite Superman movie of ANY Superman flick, period. So, I'm thinking it must be pretty good as far as comics go. To me, there'll never be a more definitive Superman story.

"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

That's a tough one to answer, I have all the TPB Superman books from the 40's thru the 80's,
and there are a lot of cool stories to read.

I'll definitely echo the sentiments of many and say that those JLA/JSA crossovers are awesome and highly recommended.
Plus the Marvel/DC crossovers others have mentioned.
I've also always loved the Superman vs Shazam and Superman vs Wonder Woman treasury edition sized volumes. Great stories.
There are also a lot of great Superman team-up stories in the pages of DC Comics Presents. That was a cool series.
          PUNY HUMANS!

This is great. Keep the ideas coming. I will be looking into these suggestions as well. Now it seems I need to check out this animated movie too. Thanks everyone!!!
