Dude, those pages were from New Frontier, Classified

It came out last week. It's very good with the Batman vs. Superman story you saw pages for, along with a Teen Titans & a funny Wonder Woman & Black Canary story.

BTW, the stuff the movie left out that was in the book is hinted at in the opening credits.
    Hey! Check out the pictures.

^ I enjoyed the special that came out this week....left you wanting more of the same!
New Frontier is a nice little throwback niche that I'd love to see explored further...

Agreed. I would even take it a step further and continue the New Frontier DC Direct line to include the entire DCU.

I have a feeling that this reality is going to turn up on the one of th 52 Earths.

I enjoyed this movie but I had to keep in mind this is an alternate universe then the movie was ok.

What's nice in the New Frontier Special that just came out is that Darwyn Cooke makes a specific point of NOT tieing it in to the "52-niverse". The script references that although some people will tell you there are 52 universes there is actually an infinite number of universes. So he's just going with the flow I think and not getting it bogged down in continuity.

Wouldn't it be nice if Cooke and Timm were put in charge of the DCU?

I picked it up tonight due to the recommendations of everyone here.

I will start off by saying I have not read the comic.

I did enjoy it. But it wasn't what I expected. I was expecting more of a team movie like the JL series. But it was mostly about Hal and to a lesser extent Martian Manhunter and Flash. Most of the characters on the DVD art had blink and you miss them cameos.

I also thought the voice casting was not as strong as previous efforts. I did like that the theme of it was positive and uplifting.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

At the LA comic con last week, Cooke hinted around that he's working on a book featuring a JSA member set in the New Frontier period. Please be Hourman. He's also got a story in Jonah Hex coming up.

Hourman by Cooke would rock. Man, Rex's stock sure went up after "The Golden Age", didn't it?

My lovely wife bought me the Absolute New Frontier edition. MAN, that thing is HUGE and heavy. But it's gorgeous. I've been holding off on reading it. I want to savor it first.

And since she did take up the mantle of Wonder Woman, technically becoming the Golden Age Wonder Woman(sort of), it seems like a pretty fair balance between the two.
Cooke's new frontier is a departure from the "current" dc continuity and the classic pre crisis one. it is a "blended" or elseworld continuty grown from the Golden age. based on the realy world and the conintued published of the comics of DC's the Big 3 from the end of the golden age in 51 to the appearance of martian manhunter which is usaully noted as the start of DC's Sivler age (along with barry allen Flash in showcase 4). As a long time comic fan it was nice to see someone address that long ignored 500 pound gorilla in room. I can live with the post crisis retcon of Hippolyta as WW but Its nice to see this version as Darwyn cooke did it and his syle evoked the silver age comics to me nice to see it transfer so well to animation. Like others I missed the losers and suicide sqaud from the comic but I can aslo see why they were dropped

LOVE the use of so many period look backrounds and the MICROFISCHE took me back to High school (for those of us old enough to have gotten out of school before the internet)

It's worth the money but to tell you the truth the single disc version is a better buy (it is basically the same as disc 1 in the 2 disc version and has the 2 commentary tracks) the 2nd disc has some interesting gloss overs of 50 years of JLA comics (not really all that helpful unless you never read any comcis) and a quick review by Cooke of his panels as they translate to the screen (eh) and 3 JLU episodes (and not even ones particlarly great I guess chosen by Bruce Timm for apperanced by NF characters like Rick Flagg) but overall not really worth it compared to the single dvd ed. if you can get the Walmart single disc with the GL CDRom it would probably be a better purchase

I liked it, but Hal Jordon becoming the Green Lantern was so close to the end, and I didn't like that.
