Not true. I'm very particular about what I like yes and quite often I feel these projects fall short.
But you know, I've reached the point in my comic book life where I just don't care anymore.
That's not to say I'm still not interested in my four color heroes but I've definitely lost a lot of passion
and fervor when it comes to these things. I feel burned out.

Super-heroes and DC in general, Batman and Superman in particular have been "my thing" for about 40 years
now but I think I've lost the fire so to speak. The characters in any of their current incarnations
(comics, TV, movies, toys) haven't represented my interpretations of them in quite some time.
In print it was the New 52 that was the straw that broke this camel's back. In film it's been seeing
WB/DC lose ground to Marvel again and again, under utilizing characters that have been marquee
household names for 75 years. And yet Rocket Racoon will be on the big silver screen before
Wonder Woman or Aquaman or the Flash or the freakin' Martian Manhunter for crissakes.

The most fun I've had with DC heroes in a long time now was last night. My daughter and I
cracked open the Lego Batman 2 wii game we've had since XMas. It may seem simple and basic
but those are the closet I've felt to Superman, Batman, Robin, et al in a long time.

That's why I just don't care too much about Affleck's casting. Personally I think he'll do
ok. And if he doesn't, I'm not so sure that's "my" Batman anyway. And at this point I'm really not
sure I'll ever see him again. That ship may have sailed...
You summed up my new "Zen-like" attitude toward these things nicely. I was honestly pretty disenfranchised even BEFORE the New 52. It was just the final nail in the coffin for me, signalling that MY DC was not coming back.

Well said. I'm already past that point.....I gave up on new comics. I now live in the past collecting, what made me happy.

          This is pretty funny.

I didn't get the "Phantoms" comments by some until I ran across this.

^Once they are made you should send copies to WB/DC, but they'd probably still miss the message.

That pretty much sums it up.

I just cannot believe DC is trying to build there Cinema Universe on a throw-a-way movie "Man of Steel". The Man of Steel was a movie that was rushed out due to the trial over the rights of Superman, so WB rushed out a script and greenlit it without even wondering what the fallout would be. WB was stated that this was a throw-a-way movie and they would not make a sequel to it, it was a standalone movie.

Now that Marvel has been kicking there arse and after they won the lawsuit, WB decides they need to the Cinema Universe going. So they decide to attach it to a movie that was supposed to be a standalone movie. Now we get word that the sequel will star Batfleck and it could possibly tie into TV series Arrow?

I like Arrow, but to tie it to DC Cinema Universe would be wrong. It does not fit at all. I guess for the time being I will have to say "Make mine Marvel!"

It's beginning to look like the Favreau/Nolan analogy is correct, as trade rumors are now Affleck is in line to take over Justice League.

So what happened is the new Hollywood standard: Director/Writer revives franchise. Person who has no business being involved, gets involved, because they have a backdoor. This is how Abrams got Trek, Singer Superman Returns, Whedon Avengers. Now Affleck. Marvel's got lucky because Favreau and RDJ's capital transferred to Thor, Cap and Avengers. WB does not have that luxury.

I'd like to think Goyer and Nolan are ticked, but they've made millions and are guaranteed that for a few more years, so they're not crying.

                              Has Goyer been booted?

Affleck could have been in the background all along. Didn't the WB met with him about directing MOS before Snyder was hired/announced? Maybe it was directing and starring in the JLA movie? Timeline is escaping me, but it was reported that he had met with WB about DC properties. This wasn't totally out of the blue, other than he turned something down before, which only means not now; maybe later.

I could see Goyer continuing to hitch his wagon to Nolan and moving to do more with him with Legendary/universal. But he's supposed to be working on the script with Snyder, now.

If WB is planning on cranking these out one or two a year like Marvel at some point, Affleck's not going to be able to do it all. If reports are accurate his schedule appeared packed with post production on a film and acting in another right up until, filming would need to begin early next year on Superman/Batman.

^I don't even think one or two a year is their goal...they're talking trying to catch up to and surpass Marvel, who is already 20+ films ahead of them. If they try to crank these out that fast in an effort to catch up, the quality will be terrible and they'll fail miserably.
They should just slow it down and focus on doing them right, not fast.
