Above is the link to the first story mentioning Hoechlin. There is a link that story to the WB press release about the Superman/Batman film that was announced a couple of weeks ago at San Diego Comic Con.
Even though the rubber suit does hid many features, I do think it makes a difference who is put in there. The eyes, mouth and chin shows. While Keaton gave a decent performance if you like your Batman sorta addled and confused, his weak chin and googlely eyes never really. Worked for me. Kilmer's chin wasn't much better. While Clooney was dreadful along with the script, he did look more like the character in the comics, to me. Bale is probably the best Batman so far to me but his face is a bit narrow, too, and got lost in the mask or helmet.
Obviously whoever WB hires, he needs to be able act first then fit the physical type. But If I were Snyder and the casting director, I'd try to find squared-jawed actor with emotive eyes to fill out the cowl/helmet/mask.Last edited by madmarva; Jul 31, '13, 6:51 AM.Comment

I've seen enough actors surprise me and make it work that I've given up questioning the merits by appearance alone. Ultimately it will come down to treatment.Comment

The key is how the new Batman actor tests with Henry Cavill...he has to click with Cavill (both in chemistry and physically)...that's how the process will be done by Znyder and Nolan.sigpicComment

Josh Brolin as Batman?
Excellent actor, already close to being an A-lister, chiseled looks, but the dude is 46 years old...way older than Henry Cavill...
Other contenders, Ryan Gosling (good brooding actor) and Joe Mangianello (who Snyder considered for Superman)...
All three actors older than Cavill, I guess they are going with an already established and rugged Batman here, no origin story, which is good infact.sigpicComment
