These are the exact reasons why I found it sad. The guy plays an immortal in a movie and gets reduced to a vegetable in real life with nothing to look forward to. He inspired a lot of people after his accident but in some ways it would have been better if he just died after he fell off his horse. He lived in agony for a great deal of time. In some regards Superman did make him immortal but the world can be a cruel place sometimes.

I don't think you can compare the two. They are way too different.

I really didn't like Man of Steel. I thought he was good as Superman I guess. I saw the movie last night. I was pretty upset by it. My girlfriend said I looked so sad she thought I was going to cry. I've done nothing but think about how much I didn't like the movie since seeing it. I know it's just a movie, but it's Superman.

I'm all for a person having their own opinion, but this is one ignorant statement.

Reeves legacy is not just Superman, but a man who continued to live on after a tragic accident. Continuing to inspire others who have unfortunately went through similar accidents.

Not to mention the Christopher Reeves foundation was developed. Take the time to look at the site

Spacecaps, I'm sorry but your comments regarding Reeve's accident and subsequent recovery are ill-informed & callous. Please read his memoir--it's full of strong, personalized opinions, but also humour & humility.

I am really shocked by your post, regardless of how you feel about his films or his perfomance.

No, no no...that's the wrong way to take it. Superman, career whatever aside what I'm saying is, this guy was a person, a father, a husband. He had a great life leading up to a tragic accident and then a great tragedy happened to him and he and his family had to live through it. Last year I watched the last of my Grandparents pass away. Not one of the four went quick and easy. Two of them had cancer that stripped away all that they were. They literally withered away into nothing over YEARS. My one grandfather had open heart surgery that went awry he clung to life a mere shadow of himself for 64 excruciating days before he mercifully passed. I don't remember any one of them the way they were in their last days but I can't unsee it either. The suffering they experienced was tremendous and the strain on the family was unbearable. When my grandmother got sick last year she and under wnt what turned out to be unsuccessful surgery, she was done and ready to go but her pacemaker kept her heart beating a week longer than it needed too and we were all wishing she had just died in the surgery.

Going through what Reeves went through is unbearable to think about let alone live through. I totally respect that Reeves played the hand he was dealt with dignity and class and admire the guy for it but what I'm saying is that given what he went through paired with what he once was, having a merciful death would not have been the worse thing to have happened to him. I know what he did after his accident was inspirational to many and for a time he made stem-cell research front page news which was and is incredibly important, there's no question to his integrity there. I just think the guy deserved better which is why I said "in some ways." It's not a knock on him by any stretch and as an aside, if you read my comments about his performance as Superman, I liked him in the role. I thought the movies he played the character in were awful. What he went through was brutal. I did read his memoir and wrote a paper on him in back in college right after his death. I use some of his post-accident speeches in my classroom and as a person, I really liked the guy. He had an uncanny wit about him and a determination but no matter what, he didn't want to or deserve to end up like that, no one does and to see him end up the way he did and talk about his injury and speak as if he was really Superman once upon a time all the while in a massive mechanical chair with tubes protruding from his neck and a face that barley resembled anything he once was, was unbelievably sad.

That's a good one. The boy use's a qoute from a 82 year old actor, then suggests Reeves is a relic. Yeah... Oh well. And BTW, no one called you a name. But after that bit of backwards thinking, I think you're well on your way...

Actually, I quoted Zachary Quinto. Another actor who successfully supplanted an aging relic.

You've already lost this argument by resorting to name calling. This is just the icing on the cake. Continuing to beat a dead horse only serves to show that you are sore in defeat. Pick up the pieces of your shattered ego and move on.

ACTUALLY you qouted "Spock" or can't you read your own typing? If you intended to qoute Quinto then type "Quinto". You're fun.

lol I think this counts as a suit and comic.

But to answer the original ? Nope not for me.
