I finally picked up the classic TV series from WB Archive and just finished the first disc.
What a great, fun show! This is what superheroes should be IMO. Yes, the 70's setting is incredibly dated, but it also really takes you back to a simpler time. I remember liking this series as a kid and am enjoying it much more now.
You can tell a lot of love went into making it. The stories, while simple, have a lot of heart to them, and are great little morality tales. Neither Michael Gray nor Jackson Bostwick were ever going to win any acting awards, and Les Tremayne is clearly the glue holding everything together, but Billy Batson is so sincere and Captain Marvel projects such kindness and warmth, you just can't help but love them both.
