    >It would be hard to escape humorous overtones in that scenario, Don.. especially with today's "hip shaved head" mentality.

HAW! Yeah.... most folks wouldn't see it as that big a deal, but I think that's where you'd have to start. That it really ISN'T a big deal to anyone.... except Lex. 'Cos he's not right. You wouldn't have to sell the bald; you'd be selling the crazy.

I bet this movie is action packed! Like, after the first 85 minutes of all the characters in various scenes looking wistful and talking very slowly about "destiny" - I bet the action is really going to be mind blowing after that!

Saw Oblivion today and the new MOS trailer ran with it. It looked like Snyder added grain to the digital print, which I kind of liked. However, I was a little surprised that there was more audible reaction to the trailers of both the Fast and Furious sequel and RIPD, which looked pretty fun with Jeff Bridges chewing up the scenery.

Hope the audience was mesmerized and not bored during the MOS trailer,

Audiences today are not like before.

Back in the old days, they would react and clap at many trailers...today, I never see them react to any trailer, they are all jaded, I really hate today's modern moviegoers.

Really? Im surprised you fell like that. to me most trailers stink now. They're mostly so by-the-books and similar feeling, even for decent movies. They all seem like they're edited the exact same way, and I even keep hearing the same music getting recycled over and over.

Use to be the lights dimmed down and the magic started, but now theres 20 minutes of being blasted by commercials and promos wedged in with the trailers. Seeing the new movie trailers use to be my favourite part of seeing a movie, now everything before the movie is torture to me.

Another thing to consider, movie trailers use to be special, you could only watch them in the theatre. Now people can finish texting or whatever, if they like what they see they'll watch it with more attention later online. Trailers have just become ads because of this.

That's how I feel about most MOVIES these days.

Bless, Don. i want to assure you that "selling the crazy" was my angle on the "bald" issue as well. And, I think, in a fantasy world without certain intervention by studio heads, etc. it would be an awesome element to work with.

I picture all these obsessive type scenes dealing with Luthor's control issues and baldness which, in 2013, I think any guy losing their hair COULD relate to. It's not so much the "horror of being bald" it's much more the "horror of no control over going bald". In THIS context, if done right, the "shaved head" bit could actually WORK for the character. As in something like Luthor's girlfriend being perfectly comfortable with him being bald/"shaved head clean", but then his girlfriend leaving him because of his obsessiveness over Superman and what happened for Luthor to "lose control over having a full head of hair".

I know it sounds funny to you all (it does to ME too, when I read it)... but if done right... the silliness of that kind of behavior could be the thing that would make it appear deeply tragic.

I have to point something out... I'm still waking up, and now after re-reading your post, Don... you're definitely saying the same thing I am. So, I just wanted to show that I see where YOU are coming from.

I've read that the kryptonite routine has been done away with, thus making Superman completely unbeatable which to me translates into unrelatable.

^Maybe it's just not in THIS movie. And I won't miss it. Kryptonite doesn't have to be in every Superman tale.

Yeah, Snyder said they're holding off on all the old standbys such as Kryptonite and Luthor.

I don't think we'll see Kryptonite until Brainiac and Metallo are introduced to the mix. Something tells me, looking at Zod's tech, Brainiac will make Metallo or they'll be an offshoot of Krypton tech found by Luthor. Sort of like how the Terminator was created by its own arm being left in the manufacturing plant decades earlier.
