My hope is as soon as Sony has gone bankrupt butchering Spider-man in this new series, they will have to let Marvel Studios take it back. Then we can get back to quality story telling.
Have to disagree with you on this one...I thought Rhys Ifans was brilliant as Connors/The Lizard, and his look translated very well to the screen. A lot of people wanted a dinosaur in a lab coat, and that's not what the Lizard is. We got a human/lizard hybrid which truly captured the original Ditko version. It was explained by the producers it was very important that Connors was still recognizable as the Lizard and able to have a full range of facial expressions in order to emote. A snout would have made that impossible. Even when he's a monster, you still have to be able to identify with and sympathize with him. They really nailed it, IMO.

My guess is Giamatti will have to start weight-lifting. Actors gain or lose weight for roles all the time. I can see him getting in shape for this role. The suit will probably be a basic grey and maybe instead of a Rhino horn on top a helmet with some nub for battering down things. I'm not saying this will turn out good but that's likely they will try to make it realistic instead of comic-book.

Most likely, whatever version origin they use, he will be transformed into the Rhino, most likely CGI since that's the way they go now anyway. He'll probably be as big as the Hulk and since he's also a Hulk villain, He may be used in a future Hulk movie project.....

The Spider-man franchise is being ruined with this series. Amazing Spider-man was a disgrace of a movie. The acting of Andrew Garfield was horrible and the entire movie felt like a trip to the dentist. Now they are making a sequel to this crap. Spider-man is my favorite superhero. I loved the first three Spider-man movies and wished that they would have continued onward with the same cast and directors. Paul Giamatti as Rhino will be just as bad as Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. And Jamie Foxx as Electro...do I really need to say more? The Amazing Spider-man series will be just as bad as Joel Shumachers two failed attempts at making decent Batman films. I predict after this sequels low acceptance rate by the fans, we will be seeing another direction for Spidey.

I think otherwise, the casting of Giamatti implies to me that we'll be getting a Teenage Mutant-esque CGI mutant looking Rhino. If they were casting somebody burly or imposing, I'd hold out hope for the classic costume.

I could be scared of Jaimie Foxx. My 11-year old son could take out Paul Giamatti. Again, great actor, but I don't see him in the role. But maybe they'll prove me wrong.

I'm assuming the Rhino will be mostlly CGI just like the Lizard. Also, his whole schtick relies on his costume, so I doubt they'll change it too much. Electro is just wrong...no costume, wrong race...
