I agree with the ideas of tying him to Aztec myth. He could be a Zatanna/Aztec type figure. The Aztecs and their cultural predecessors had a high level of civilization that could have been used to make him a Dr Fate type character. Hanna Barbera was obviuosly writing for kids of their time who certainly wouldn't have overanalyzed a comic hero.

I always thought El Dorado was kind of a Martian Manhunter analogue. No shirt and funky cape with a collar. Probably not, but it's what I thought.
Oh, and as far as being lame, I thought he was a lot cooler than Vibe, but that character is actually getting a series. I enjoy most of Geoff Johns' work, but a guy has too much power when he can get one of the lamest characters ever its own title.Last edited by madmarva; Dec 8, '12, 5:44 PM.Comment

Yeah, they totally dropped the ball with Zann--even as a kid, I new he was lame. He should have had complementary powers to the level of his sister, but involving elements/minerals.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

If those characters were to get a redux they probably would look nothing like their SuperFriends counterparts. El Dorado probably had the most complicated design of all the SF created characters.
My favorite of the group was Apache Chief. I just thought it was so cool how he could turn into a giant. (Of course, I knew nothing of Giant Man at the time)
Zan and Jayna didnt bother me as a kid, they really dont bother me now. Sure their lame, but I think thats part of their charm. It's fun to watch the show and laugh at its sillyness. It's sometimes hard to believe some of the people involved in this would go on to work on Batman:tas along with Bruce Timm.
Instead of Marvin, Wendy, and wonderdog I think I would have rather have had Snapper Carr though, lol.Comment

Vibe's getting a series? That's it DC's finally gone to hell. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment
