I'd love to see "The World's Greatest Detective" - I don't think that will sell but picture batman who lurks in the night, investigates, deduces, and has cool gadgets but not batplanes and fistacuffs.
Obviously the success of the recent Holmes films has a ton to do with the likeability of and chemistry between Downey Jr. and Jude Law, but I think a film playing up similar aspects of Batman could be popular. I'd like to see a Batman film that does show at his core, Batman is a detective, not just an excellent fighter with wonderful toys.
Nolan did a nice job of incorporating a lot of aspects of Batman's character into his films and touching on or borrowing from a manuy of key storylines from the last 25 years, but he and for that matter the first four Batman films really whiffed on Batman being a detective. Of course that aspect of Batman hasn't been used as much in the comics since Miller coined "The Dark Knight" from the bronze-age moniker "The Dark Night Detective."Last edited by madmarva; Nov 28, '12, 6:39 AM.Comment

^True dat, although Batman was called "The Dark Knight" in a few early Golden Age stories.
Nolan hinted at the detective side of Batman in each of his films, but I would like to see that part get more screen time. Other than that, they did borrow from O'Neil/Adams, Englehart/Rogers, and of course Miller and Loeb/Sale quite a bit.

I would love to see Bruce Timm and his crew given a chance to do live action with complete control. I think a DC superhero movie would be close to how I want it then.
Not sure if someone whose worked in animation his entire career could pull it off though. Miller had mixed results himself.Comment
