Lord... DC is so twisted. Perhaps they'll place him in armor next. Then they can give him a hockey mask like Jason... He can write "Ha! Ha!!" all over it.
The Joker has always been a character that is scary IF he is written well...So why change his facial appearance to be "shocking" unless you've boxed yourselves in creatively?

I thought it was bad when they stole Superman's underwear. Now they've taken Joker's face. I'm just wondering which longtime favorite is going to be castrated and rebranded Eunuch, The Man With No Balls.

Dan DiDio - except for the favorite part. All the rest though...
Everything is TOO ballsy and extreme. Like Anthony said, can these guys not come up with scary Joker tales without resorting to mutilation film tactics?
Apparently beating a teenager (Jason Todd) to death with a crowbar or shooting a young woman (Barbara Gordon) point blank and then proceeding to strip her and photograph her as she lay writhing in pain isn't scary enough for DC...Not to mention the numerous henchmen Mr. J. has pushed into traffic or popped with a spear gun just because they didn't laugh at his jokes...

Honestly, I don't care, I don't buy this crap and as long as fan boys buy the books it Validates Dan Dildo and he keeps his job and gets his Christmas bonus.......
Boynightwing, I'm guessing the story will probably be pretty good. Snyder is a fine writer, but I doubt that the crux of his story hinges on Joker's new look. Why even go down that road?
It really strikes at the core of the character. Joker is supposed to be ironic. At first glance he has the looks and the trapping of a clown, but he's incredibly dangerous.
There's nothing ironic about being startled by a person who has had their face skinned off. It's the natural reaction.
To me, it's just another example of DC not understanding its characters or attempting to run away from them in a vain attempt to be cool.
Snyder might not have had anything to do with it since it was set up in Detective Comics, but who knows.
I admit, I am looking forward to the story, but it's not because of Joker's lack of a face. I'm interested in what Snyder will do with him. I just hope the arc is not as long and drawn out as Court of Owls.
Yes the ironic simplicity of a demonic looking hero and a child-friendly-looking villain seems lost on whoever thought up this awful idea.
I understand Snyder is a good writer, but I so detest what they've done with the characters, and the general direction of the DCU, I don't honestly think I could give him a fair shake on Batman.
