I am obsessed with my DCUC figure collection, and I do my darndest to collect the most well-remembered characters
from my childhood in the outfits that come closest to the Silver Age/Bronze Age versions I recall... sometimes,
that just impossible, because the character and/or costume isn't availiable in the DCUC line.

I sometimes go the "DCD" route to fill collection gaps, but I went DCUC for 4 Legionaires.... the costumes
are pretty close to the S.A./B.A. stuff for 3 of 'em, but w/his purple suit w/yellow boots and yellow additional shirt design,
to a comicbook novice/intermediate guy like me, it appears CHAMELEON BOY's DCUC costume choice is decidedly modern(?)

Is there a definitive answer to what era the DCUC CHAMELEON BOY suit design is from?

The purple/yellow is from the 80s Levitz/Giffen run IIRC...

Looks like Chameleon Boy's costume changed color in Legion #301...

Who are everybody's favorite Legion artists?

Mike Grell was the artist on the book when I first started reading and remains my favorite, even though when looking back on some of those stories he had yet to mature as an artist.

After Grell for me would be Curt Swan and then Steve Lightle

I've always been a fan of the Cockrum costume era, that's what I was first introduced too. Grell took what he started and expanded upon it.

I enjoyed Keith Giffen's early Legion run (inked by Larry Mahlstedt) by his style got too quirky by the time the " 5 Years Later" idea came along.

I'd love to see a painted book with the 70s era LSH by Alex Ross, and the Perez art on "Legion of 3 Worlds" was awesome due to its sheer volume of characters and costume changes.

Lightle was real good and I think one of the underrated LSH artists. He did some recent work on the LSH and I thought that was cool. He's still better than the modern crop of artist they've had on the book...

I appreciate the relaying of CB info there.

As far as my favorite artist... whoever did LOSH right before the "Saturn swimsuit" for Saturn Girl... that's probably
my favorite era... because SATURN GIRL is so iconic for the team and I don't like the swimsuit look much.

And pre-swimsuit was a more classic era. By the time she went back to something more classic,
I think we were kneedeep in the 80s... or touching the 90s even?

Swimsuit Saturn Girl is what sold me on the Legion I'm not ashamed to admit . The similarities between her and Farrah Fawcett, another 70s crush did not go unnoticed . I wish the DCUC figure was issued in the swimsuit.

The swimsuit was dropped sometime in 1982 I think, I'll have to pinpoint the exact issue...

I have to make a bit of a retraction/clarification... I guess it'd make more sense to have the DCUC SG in the swimsuit than
what she's actually wearing, if I wanted something more "Bronze Agey"...

...it's just that I had some comics in the 70s that were older SATURN GIRL stuff reprinted... but, yeah, the DCUC stuff is overall less
Bronze Age than if they woulda just went w/the swimsuit era stuff.

Heck, even the classic Bronze Age 7-11 cup has the swimsuit!

gotta agree on the swimsuit Saturn Girl costume, one of my favorites of all time. My intro to the LSH was actually Karate Kid #1 and I branched out from there.

Mike Grell was my favorite artist, followed by Dave Cockrum. And there were a couple issues in the 70s by Alan weiss that I remember fondly.
Worst artist was Keith Giffen, whose Kirby riff was annoying to me.
