Wow lots of positive reviews for the film. I'm hoping to go tomorrow with my son who is dying to see it. For me, I hated all 3 of the Rami Spiderman films and that was enough to put this movie pretty low on my must see summer movie list (and kind of ruin Spiderman for me in general) but after all the great feedback it's getting, I'm pretty psyched for it now!

I do not want to watch the Raimi films ever again after seeing this. I'm sure that will change, but for now that's how I feel.

This movie is everything that I have envisioned an Amazing Spiderman movie to be. It has it's minor flaws (being nitpicky only because I've read every spidey comic ever produced), but overall it was so superior to the other films that they are not even in the same ballpark IMO.

I can't wait to see it again.

After all the moaning about the costume, when Spidey is in action you really don't notice those small details. Over all a surprisingly good flick and any Super hero fan should definitely see it!

Yup, here's another positive review...I LOVED IT! I didn't mind the re-telling of the origin(even though some minor changes were made). I didn't mind that they spent a lot of time establishing who Peter Parker is...because in the comics, they have always focused on Peter's day to day struggles in life, more so than his alter ego Spiderman.
I actually prefer the Spiderman scenes being at night, it lead to great atmosphere and this re-boot being about death, Peter's guilt...it worked well.
So...I highly recommend it and plan on seeing it again in the theater. BEST Spiderman movie yet!

Overall I really liked it and can't wait to see what they will do with the next one.

It was great to see the Lizard in action. Of course there were some parts where I could nitpick, but not enough to down the movie completely.

            I love the sewer scenes!

^The fight in the sewer was really well done, and something we've never seen on the screen. Almost every Spidey/Lizard fight involves an underwater battle, and they translated that extremely well!

I also give it two big thumbs up. I admit that I walked into the theatre thinking this movie was going to stink, but was pleasantly surprised. My 12 year old loved it and I loved it. I enjoyed the original 3 Spider-Man movies immensely and didn't think this would be able to hold a candle to them, but it did and much more. Can't wait until the next one is made.

My son took his GF to see this at the midnight. I was a little penchant about seeing it. I took my nephew and neice yesterday. What a great movie. Loved every second of it. Emma Stone was fantastic. I honestly don't have a single complaint on casting. Loved the kid who played Peter. He was much better than Tobey. I felt Tobey had a whiney voice and it always annoyed me. Dennis Leary was great. I thought that Sally Field was a heck of a lucky cast. Surprised she did the role as May, but she made the character amazing. Sheen as Ben was a quality choice (which initially didn't thrill me). Lizard was great.

Overall, I liked this movie much better than the Raimi movies.

The costume was not a distraction to me at all. And some of those slo-mo ariel shots came straight out of the comic books. Made me feel like a kid again.

I also enjoyed the fact that the CGI was kept to a minimum.

                        SPOILER!

I didn't like when Spidey was shot in the leg because they dragged out those scenes quite a bit! and then he was fine battling the Lizard afterwards.

                        This was my only gripe

It's fun to read all the positive responses to the movie. Like others I was really impressed. I thought Raimi got so much right with his films, particularly the first two, but instead of just translating bits and pieces from the comics and weaving it together, Marc Webb and (I think the screen writer was) James Vanderbilt did a great job of telling a story. It all just seemed more natural. And the casting was about as flawless as it could be.

I had doubts about Garfield, one about his ability to pull of Parker and secondly how his long, lean body would look as Spider-Man. I always viewed Spidery as smaller guy. But his body type (and that of his body doubles) really worked well to pull of the spidery nature of his movements along with the CGI. Much of the action reminded me of the work of my favorite Spidey artist Gil Kane. I love Ditko and Romita, both, but Kane's Spider-Man introduced me to the character.

How could anyone not fall in love with Emma Stone in this movie.

While there always is a solemn tone to Spider-Man, particularly the origin, I loved the little bit of hope given to Peter and Gwen at the end of the film. Off course we all know what Capt Stacey death-rattle speech foreshadows.

To me, this film is a bit like last year's X-Men First Class or Dark Knight. It's the best film in the series, but the other movies kind of had to come first to plow some ground before getting to this film and its even better telling of the origin.

As much as I enjoyed the Avengers and I really did enjoy it on every level, Amazing Spider-Man's a better movie because the story's better. It just has more heart.

I told my wife I'm glad Spider-Man came out between Avengers and DKR. Avengers was pure popcorn fun. An amazing WOW spectacle that really captured the large-scale epic nature of super hero comics. Spider-Man was more low-key and introspective, but still had an overall uplifting theme despite the heavy moments. DKR looks to be a gut-wrenching experience, but one that undoubtedly ends in a high note. It's just you're going have to suffer with Batman to get there.

The tone and feel of ASM really bridged the gap between the two extremes of super hero movies this summer.

                              ::SPOILER AHEAD::

Ugh! So you're saying that, in this particular tweaking of the Spider-Man mythology, they're already killing off Captain Stacy?? What th....???!?!?! That was almost as much a milestone event for Peter Parker as the death of Gwen Stacy since, at least in the book, Parker kind of viewed Captain Stacy as being a father figure and one of the ONLY people not rattled by JJJ's anti-Spider-Man crusade! Plus, Gwen thinking that Spider-Man was responsible for her father's death put way more strain in the Gwen/Pete relationship and therefore upped the ante in that arena, as well!!!

^They did a different take on it...and it's a refreshing one. I expected the telegraphed outcome from the comics, and they steered away from it.
