This seems rather minor. There are slums in India, they show slums. Big deal.
Besides, it's chacter development for Bruce. A. Why would he risk living in a crowded area in-case he Hulks out? B. He's a caring doctor. No doubt he would go to slums to help the sick people.

India not happy with Avengers
I say GFY. Some people from India are not happy there's a part in the film where their slums in Kolkata are depicted as...slums! They would prefer Avengers had shot scenes in good neighborhoods and don't remind the world there are poor people there? It must be the caste` system thing.
