Looks like fun but the goggle eyes are a bit too 70's for me. I'll get over it though. The actor really seems to 'get' Spidey.

Yeah----that's pretty much what I thought, too.

Sony has turned Spider-Man into, basically, a rubber-suited dick of an arsehole if that first clip is ANY indication. The more I see of this, the more I know that this is the first Spider-Man movie that I will be steering well clear of not only because it looks stupid and inane, but mostly because it (and Sony) clearly want to take a steaming dump on the legacy of the character that IS Spider-Man.

How people can watch this C-R-A-P and say "it's the Spidey they've been waiting for" on the big screen (and this is NOT a slam at anyone here, it's a general observation from the various boards I've seen stuff about this footage posted on) is beyond my sense of reasoning!

This might be the Spider-Man that 12 year-olds or bullies and a**holes have been waiting for, but it certainly isn't the Spider-Man I'VE been waiting for. Not at all.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Thank God----maybe someone realized that it's really NOT projecting the character or the project in the best of light....

Huh? How was that not totally in character for Spider-Man? He relentlessly taunts his adversaries...always has. He IS a cocky jerk when he's pummeling someone. That's why they tend to get enraged and get sloppy, giving him the edge. That's his M.O. What Spider-Man books have you guys been reading all these years?
I love it, and it's exactly what I wanted, and I'm not a bully or an a**hole.

Spidey is confronting some mugger or something who has a knife, and pretends to cower, saying "Oh no, not a knife! Anything but that!" and then proceeds to web him slowly to a wall while repeatedly taunting him.

It was classic Spidey taunting at it's best.

The more clips that i see, the more I am liking this. I personally think this will surprise some in the same way First Class X-Men did. I remember 1st Class got quite the rough ride when compared to the 'mighty' Green Lantern last summer and we all know which movie had its Green a-s-s handed to it.

OMG this version of Spider-Man is a smart ***! How dare they portray the character the same way he's been done since ever.

Seriously, you could put this scene in almost any version of Spider-Man past or present and it would fit. Well, maybe not this version:
