Brave and the Bold #142
If that is all it took for Aquaman to "give in" to Batman. Namor who has gone toe to toe with Hulk and Powerman. Would rip Aquaman's head off and....(Well, let's just leave it at that.)
I love Aquaman and think he is more popular but I got to go with Namor.
But, if we think about it. Aquaman has really not stayed the same in strength over the years. Now, he could probably duke it out with Namor. About a decade ago in that B&B issue Namor would have mopped the floor with him.
When he first came out he was massively strong and then in the 80's he sort of went to normal human strength.
With the Peter David run in the 90's his strength seemed to increase.
It really is hard to place Aquaman on scale.
In the Golden Age he was tempered and full of rage with great strength.
Don’t **** off Golden Age Aquaman… he’ll throw a polar bear at your ***. Seriously. Here is the splash page from More Fun Comics #85 (1942).
Aquaman #0 (1994) from the third ongoing series drawn by Marty Egeland. In the story by Peter David, Aquaman goes bat-***** crazy after losing his hand. So what does he do? He shoves a harpoon into the pulpy-meaty stub of an arm that he’s left with. Niiiiiiiiiice.
After this transformation, his strength seemed to go back up to super human to almost Spider-man level.
Then take a look at when Aquaman got his "water hand" powers. Take A look at what he could do with his new powers.
Is that Superman?
I just thought this was a cool demonstration of what Aquaman could do with his water hand by Patrick Gleason - Aquaman #29 (2005).
Sorry, I got long winded when talking about one of my favorite characters.Last edited by Cosmicman; Feb 21, '09, 10:43 PM.More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

I have a Brave and the Bold comicbook from the early 80s when I was just a little kid where Batman makes an fool out of Aquaman. They go round and round and Aquaman eventually admits his defeat and "gives in". It was a sad fight.

I mean come on...Supes can dive into the yellow sun...but he's rendered immobile by popsicle fingers? Water hand???
...and writers always do the opposite for Batman (who I'm beginning to hate his guts, lol)...Aquaman can't defeat Batman in his own water element??? For Christ's sake...just take off his bloody snorkel mask, lol.

You and me both. I used to like Batman but he is so mythed out and has done things so far off the scale by writers that he isn't even an enjoyable character and is starting to become annoying like GI Joe. (Well, maybe not that bad but it is starting to get close.)More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...
