I gave it 6 issues (the first arc) and that was more than I should have. I didn't like the idea of Cyborg being a founding member from the start and wasn't a fan of the redesigns. But, like other DCnU books I figured I'd give it a shot to see how it played out. At the end of the day I still wasn't impressed by the story, which was stretched super-thin to accomodate the artist's strengths/weaknesses (as well as writing for the trade). And the characterizations didn't ring true to me, especially Hal Jordan who Geoff Johns has past experience writing. The whole thing, for me, ended up being much ado about nothing. I wasn't hooked to see where they end up going next...

I was just thinking the same thing, but it's less a matter of him having an exclusivity contract and more to do with the fact that he is/was a Marvel suit. He heads up Marvel TV Development. I would really doubt that an executive would be allowed to write for the competition, so has he walked or been canned? (Loeb used to share an office with Geoff Johns though, even when they were both writing for marvel and dc exclusively, before they became execs)Comment

It was so bad and so much importance was attached to it that I feared DC had skewed their comics for such a young audience that they had finally passed me by.Last edited by aquatroy; Mar 14, '12, 10:11 AM.Comment

I only gave JLA two issues. It was so bad it hurt. Jim Lee is a good artist yes, and Johns is a good writer as well. It just seemed to me that they didn't have a handle on how the characters would interact. The dialogue coming out of Green Lantern was shameful at best. He'd never say...well...anything he said.
I have no problem with Cyborg being on the team, but it seems sad to me that his time on the Teen Titans has been erased from history. It would be more believable if he had been on the Titans first. It gives him a chance to earn his position in the League like Wally did.
Totally off topic, I had a dream last night that Wally West joined Marvel since he wasn't being used in DC...I miss Wally West, he was the FUN Flash.Comment

I read issue one of JL(A) online (for free, glad I didn't waste money on it) and that was 5 minutes more than I needed to spend on it. Horrible book with a wafer thin plot and lots of fanboy pinup art.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. Given that he's currently only hallway through the Avengers Vs X-men crossover, something radical would have had to happened for him to jump ship back to the new DC.

I Know right ? .
F Barry Allen.
... I've read all of the Lee Justice Books .
I don't think the Book is as Bad as people are ripping it apart in this Thread. It was still Miles ahead of Final Crisis.
... I didn't care for the Arse Additude of Jordan ...., Nore the Lameness of Superman..., Starting with his Costume. However I also think, when I think about it ..., that this is some sorta Origin Story ..., And these characters Just met...., so there is time for them to grow.
All the other characters wasn't too far from how they were I believe. Sure Cyborg is totally different...., But imo I didn't mind him Being linked to DarSeid Now ..., if that's new, I dunno. But I did like it. I feel that Cyborg's in the group now, Because he is forced though ..., Because of his Race and the fact that they need an African American character ...., to apeal to a broder Reading group. I feel it's difficult to accept characters this way.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

Barry Allen would have been ok, but Geoff Johns dropped the ball upon his return...

You can take it ..., I'm still trying to Wash My Mind of all that Crap.
And Everyone wants to ***** about what the Characters of this New DCU 52 look like, sure myself included with some designs, ..., But what About what Morrison did to Mary Marvel ? .... That was far worse than Anything ever seen in the New 52 or The Jusice League Book.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I've not read Justice League 6, but my problem with the title is there is very little story for $24 bucks. I mean Stan Lee put a lot more story around Kirby's art back in the day, and he was writing 5 or more books and running the line, like Jim Lee and Johns are doing with their other jobs at DC. Compare FF 48-50 (Galactus) to the first 6 issues of Justice League. At this pace it will take Johns and J. Lee a year to tell as much story as S. Lee and Kirby did in three issues back then.
I like Lee's art and I do think Johns was playing with the personalities to show a difference between then and now. So, I'm interested to read the upcoming issues to see how he will characterize the characters in "current" time.
I don't mind Cyborg being in Justice League. He's a better character than Steel or Black Lightning. Yeah, it destroys Wolfman/Perez's Titans in current continuity, but DC's tried to put that group back together in various ways the last 10 or 15 years and it's never worked. So I it doesn't seem like a loss to me.
But, I do understand why folks don't care for it and are dropping it. I might be in that boat soon if the story-telling doesn't pick up some speed. I like it just enough to keep buying it.Last edited by madmarva; Mar 14, '12, 2:28 PM.Comment
