The New 52: Six Months In

OK, I just filed away my comic purchases from the last six months (yes, I got lazy )...Here's what I came away with (including titles that aren't branded as "New 52"):

    Still purchasing

    Aquaman
    Batman
    Wonder Woman
Green Lantern (was reading prior to the "New 52")
    I, Vampire
All-Star Western (was reading "Jonah Hex" prior to the "New 52")
    The Shade
    i Zombie
    Tiny Titans
    Fables

    Dropped after 6 issues

    Action Comics
    Batwoman
    Justice League

    4 issues

    Swamp Thing

    3 issues

    Batgirl
    Superman
    Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
    Green Arrow

    2 issues

    Legion of Super-Heroes
    Legion Lost
    Demon Knights
    Huntress
    Detective Comics
    Fury of Firestorm

So out of ALL the "New 52" that were released, the only titles I actually added that I'm STILL reading were Aquaman, Batman, Wonder Woman and I, Vampire.
4 books...wow If my math is correct, that's only 7.5% out of all the New 52 that interests me enough to try it where I wasn't before. (And I sampled roughly 1/3 of what was available).
    Depressing....

As far as other titles/companies, I'm also currently still reading:

    Daredevil (Marvel)
    Captain America (Marvel)
    Dark Shadows (Dynamite)
    Peanuts (Boom!)

After 6 months I'm still reading:

    Aquaman
    Flash
    Wonder Woman
    Batman
    Batman and Robin
    Detective
    Nightwing
    Batgirl
    Batwoman
    Supergirl
    Action
    The Shade
    Huntress

I got all 5 of the Penguin series

    What I dropped after 6:
    Suicide Squad
    Batwing
    Superboy

    After 4:

    Static Shock
All Star Western (I was only reading the Jonah Hex half)

    After 2:
    Teen Titans

    After 1:
    Green Arrow.

Everyone is so hard on DC. I used to collect Marvel too and I stopped collecting anything from them YEARS ago. I tried a few times with things like Daredevil, and Wolverine, and random Spider-man issues to no avail. I'd say Marvel dropped the ball harder then DC since they get none of my money.

      Still purchasing

      Tiny Titans
Fables and all spin offs (Trades only)

will subscribe to Art's new Superman title.

I breezed through some of the new 52 titles, some aren't terrible but I've had issue with the Didio era for about four years now and a lot of the things I griped about are even more present now. I'm not talking stuff like costume changes but the whole "vibe" of the books read immature at times.

Dropped the Batman titles fairly soon. Didn't care for (spoilers I guess....)

"dirty" Catwoman, Joker getting his face cut off, Hulk Two Face and the evil Play Boy Bunny. Stayed with Wonder Woman, Batgirl and JL longer. Just recently dropped them. Still like the characters but I'm not going to collect out of loyalty or habit if I'm not having fun.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I totally forgot about Red Hood and Catwoman. I still read those too. And Birds of Prey. Though it's on thin ice. I don't know if it's worth continuing.

Tried out Action, Frankenstein and OMAC, I liked them ok, but for one really quick read its not really worth 3 bucks a pop.

My son currently gets Tiny Titans. His subscription will soon switch over to Superman Family.

That is it for our monthly comic buying. If that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what does.

^^^^Hopefully that will outsell all the 52 books and send DC a message.

Let's see if I can remember them all. I read:

                          Justice League

                          Detective

                          Red Lanterns

I know Lee was taking a break (to catch up) but I thought Geoff Johns was on indefinitely? DC can't seem to have any team on a book longer than 6 months lately...

Loeb must not be Marvel-exclusive anymore?
