While both are also slow, they've shown they can pack a ton of story into one issue without resorting to big page spreads. Just compare "GL Rebirth" or "Legion of 3 Worlds" with this book. Their work is much more detailed than Lee's and packs a lot more characters, dialogue and plot in the pages.
Johns + Van Sciver + GL: Rebirth = One of my all time faves!

I LOVED EVS's take on the Emerald Knight! I wish he would go back!!!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I just realized that Frank has switched to Henry Cavill as his Superman.

Maybe a little Adriana Palicki in his WW?

I think the change I would make to Superman's new design is to make the belt yellow again, but keep the buckle red.

So far I haven't liked the Jim Lee Geoff Johns JLA. I like most the other titles in the New 52 but not theirs. I would have thought that Johns knew how to portray Green Lantern, but for some reason his Hal is wrong compared to his other GL series. It doesn't make sense.

Looked at DC's website. Looks like Franks is taking over with issue #7...I guess it's a good time for me to cancel the book.

Anthony, you're probably right about the pace of the book being as much or more on Lee than Johns, but I'm finding with GL and JL (not as much with Aquaman) that there's not enough story per issue, but it might be he's just working so smoothly with the artists that it seems that way, letting them get across the info with images. Maybe, I just need to switch to the trades.

I'm really miss Van Sciver's art. He's slow, but he does deliver great work each time. Not much of a Firestorm fan, which he is writing, so I'd rather see him work on a graphic novel or maybe one the Earth One GN projects. Maybe a Flash or Green Lanter Earth One GN. Or maybe a Flash and GL team-up GN.

TBolt, certainly, Frank uses photo reference, but I don't think he's scanning images like Greg Land is accused of, but I may be wrong about that. Aquaman does have a little bit of a Kirk Douglas look to him in that cover. He would have been a cool Aquaman back in the day.

I'm eager and anxious with Johns and Frank's Shazam series, but with just 8 or 10 pages it'll take a year and half to tell one story.

Bat, I believe Frank is only doing the Shazam back-up series.

photo reference of course, every artist does it. but no scanning, this guy is the real deal, very accomplished Illustrator up there with Curt Swan, if you go to comic art fans you'll see his pencilling work. absolutely amazing work.....

Gary Frank has provenb himself to be an artistic chameleon. I remember his earliest work on INcredible Hulk right after Kewon left. His work was an extension of Dale plus a bit of John Byrne, absolutely nothing like he does now. It's like he's a different person entirely. Not a trace of the old style is left. I've never seen an artist do this. I like both ways. I gotta see if that Frank/David run on Hulk is available in trade.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

That happens, the editor, may have suggested to him to not stray away to much from the style that was established, but most artist do evolve and change, look at most artist when they start as time goes on, they find their own niche, and more of them comes out and less of whomever was their influence at the moment.......

and Yes I did like when he did the Hulk too.....

Axe...I like this Batman pic very much, but not the one on the cover you posted...to bad he changed his style. The only character I think looks good on that cover is Wonder Woman.

I like this redesign...I wish they had tapped Gary Frank to redesign the new 52 instead of Jim Lee...Although I'd still want trunks on Superman and Batman
