Unless you are going to continue the world of Smallville it's probably a better idea to cast someone new. -

I'm so confused why they don't spin it off smallville like really you have a loyal fanbase to CW its gonna be even more confusing seeing another green arrow on that channel and changing up the storyYour powers on Earth may seem extraordinary, Kal-El, but we are not gods. - Jor-El (Smallville Season 5)Comment

The producers and showrunner might not have wanted to carry the weight of the Smallville continuity or the expectations of Smallville fans in doing the show. They might feel it would have limited them more than helped them.
I liked Hartely in the part and wouldn't have minded them spinning the show out of Smallville, but a fresh start might give them more options that hopefully will allow them to make a great pilot and for it to be picked up.
I read a synopsis that indicated Arthur and his father were lost at sea or shipwrecked for 5 years before Oliver returns (I'm assuming without his Dad) and battles either his mom or stepmom for control of the Queen fortune.
I also read that the title might be "Arrow" rather than Green Arrow, which scares me because it seems they don't have faith in the character to begin with. However, with Green Lantern and Green Hornet tanking on the big screen last year, maybe it's the right thing. After all it's not easy being green.Last edited by madmarva; Feb 3, '12, 11:01 AM.Comment

Oh please let this not be a smallville spin off........I want something a little bit more Loyal WITH THE GOTEE AND MASK..........a Mike Grell Green Arrow version would be sweet......Comment

Whatever it is, I will be watching. Ollie is a character that adapts perfectly for TV, as Hartley proved with Smallville. But, I think the excited buzz about Hawkeye in Thor and even moreso with The Avengers might have as much to do with this getting "green"-lighted as anything else.

I think I like the look of this guy as Green Arrow better than Justin Hartley...Will he have the traditional beard or just the scruff that the DCnU GA does?Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I could see him with a goatee, but I doubt he'll wear the beard Adams put on him when he redesigned the character for the Brave and Bold team-up, but I could be wrong. How did GA ever maintain a secret ID with that beard?
Maybe he starts out w/o a beard and grows one later.Last edited by madmarva; Feb 5, '12, 11:31 AM.Comment

however it plays out, you know we will all be tuning in to see it. i look forward to it. Always thought GA was such a cool characterComment

Thats what I want. I could never get into Smallville. Green Arrow could be done so much better if they tried to stick with his comics roots.Comment
