I can tell you what it is missing....a REAL inker like Terry Austin or Jerry Ordway. I think the last thing I was interested in done by him was the Doom Patrol...and that went south really quick."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".
- "Isn't It A Pity"

I agree about the inkers. I actually prefer Ordways inking over just about anybody over him.
I thought Byrne did a good job on the demon and im glad he finally finished JBNM.
Sometimes he seems really into a project and sometimes....(snore)Comment

I don't think its even that to me, the layouts, designs, etc all look like they could be left overs from Superman or Next Men. They just don't look like anything new from him.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

>I kind of get a stuck in the 80's vibe from him and his designs of late.
My biggest problem with Byrne is the same that I've had with a lot of "mainstream" guys: their stuff is boring 'cos everybody looks the same. They usually have three or four physiques, one or two faces, and a handful of poses that they use over and over and over. (And they're usually not too expressive to begin with.) At a certain point, most artists seem to stop developing at all, and LITERALLY do the same stuff over and over. (We used to call it "Byrning out.")

Don C.sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment
