So he was the artist on some of those Heman golden books? I wonder if he did some mini-comics as well. I'll have to check into it when i get a chance. I know Mark Texeira did some. (which are some of the best).
Yea, fiftyseven is young. That sucks

I'm sure I've forgotten so much in my long comic reading history, but Barreto's name sounded familiar. I looked up his stuff and realized how many of his books I'd read during high school. His style, to my eyes, is kind of a misture of early Perez and Aparo. He was hugely talented and will be missed. I don't know when the last time he worked would have been, but he could easliy still be doing books today.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Barreto also did the pencils on Dark Horse's Star Wars film adaptions after the new footage was added w/ the Special Editions (with Al Williamson on inks), IIRC. Pretty good stuff!

I'm really glad that SImon got his undisclosed slice of the Captain America pie before the end, and that he got to finally see his co creation hit the big screen big time.

Although I'm probably a bigger fan of his most Goofiest creations over at DC. It actually hadn't occurred to me how much Neil Gaiman must owe to Simon given that his early DC career was built on the foundation of Simon's creations... Particularly since he originally pitched Simon and Kirby's Sandman before editorial encouraged him to go off and create his own take. Many of the elements did make their way in, with Jed, the dream stream, brute and glob having fairly significant roles.

Always liked Sandman, one of my favorite oddities. Neil Gaiman seemed to always try to show some of the influience whenever he could...

I really liked Speeding Bullets up until the ridiculous Joker/Luthor character. That took it a bit too far for me for some reason. Still beautifully drawn. Barreto also drew Batman: Master of the Future, the sequel to Gotham by Gaslight.
