Since this is a toy I guess we can't weigh the totality of the character just yet. But I think we can determine early on whether the design bodes much promise. From my perspective, it looks like something Hollywood would have done in the 80's when latex and appliances were at the forefront of effects. But that is not today. And that design is not going to wow many people who are use to lizards that come from Jurassic Park. The inspiration of old school ideas carries no merit if the public is not impressed. It may satisfy the tendencies for a select circle of comic collectors, but that won't sell enough movie tickets to make money for this film. I don't know... Right now this film appears to be making epic miscues on all fronts - casting, design, and concept. Unless something really dramatic comes out soon, I don't see this film getting big notice next summer. Too many other films are carrying more bang for their buck. This movie is removing what was good about the other Spiderman films and asking audiences to look a whole new direction. But what their pointing to, so far, has done little to justify the overall in this franchise.

If it stinks as much as Spider-Man 3 maybe it will only be the 5 biggest grossing superhero movie of all-time.

Definitely agree with the comments about the "too many villains" syndrome which all comic book movies seem to inevitably succumb to.

And yeah, The Lizard needs the classic elongated nose & jaw look from the comics.
I wonder if he'll have his tail in the movie?
                I hope so.

I've got little faith in this project from all I've seen of it so far.

I'm not going to make any judgement based off a Pez dispenser.
You can't even tell what his profile looks like, so he may indeed have much more of a snout than is visible there.

Also, the Marvel Select Red Skull action figure is a perfect example of merchandise that looks nothing like the final makeup because the sculpt was based off the earlier concept which changed by the time the film was released.

I am with others. I will have to wait until the official studio release of the Lizard. I think it will be much better than expected.

No need to wait. Here is the official release... It didn't get any better... It looks like "V" and the movie version of Abomination had a kid. Translation: Generic and completely unrecognizable to the popular version. I have no words...

Not liking that concept art at all. Looks like a cheap star trek design (you know the edict where the aliens always had to look a bit human?).
                          It's all good!

Since there are some shots from SDCC floating around where you see the Lizard with a snout, I would guess they are following a FLY-like story line where he evolves further into the Lizard each time he takes the formula. And it's probably not until the very end where he reaches full lizard-like form and is likely unable to reason that Spiderman is forced to destroy him. That way Sony can say they achieved a hybrid look of the Lizard before they kill him off. That's my guess. Unfortunately this look here is probably going to be his primary appearance until the end. Don't care for it.

The Geico gecko is far more accurate. Its still not a terrible design, just not very inspired.
