So is anyone hooked on the New DCU 52?

It's amazing how many different opinions we have here on various titles.

Justice League is monumental in it's poor writing, especially from Johns. Lee isn't helping at all either. His artwork on this looks rushed and the layouts are confusing and unnecessarily jumbled. I really like his previous work, but this is drek. Three issues in and all we've had happen is everyone meets for a fight and Cyborg gets his body parts melted. A talent like George Perez could have told that story in four pages. Flagship book, hackjob product.

Green Lantern is still a great read. I backed off books during the War of Lantern stuff and Flashpoint, but this picked up where I left off. Great art by Mahnke and an excellent story by Johns who's as good here as JL is bad.

I'll stick with the GL stuff and maybe pick up collected trades for the other titles. So to answer the post's question...I'm almost hooked on GL...almost.

Agreed....Jim Lee is the wrong artist if you want "story"...if you are looking for a bump in sales, he's your guy though...

I didn't see anyone saying it had amazing writing. I think it's fun and exciting to see my favorite DC heroes meeting for the first time. All my fav heroes are back together in one book. That's fun to me and I read comics to have fun. Stuff can be better written and still be less fun for me.

The only one I'm picking up is Swamp Thing...so far it's been great in the art dept and the story is starting to get really interesting.

Yeah, that's great if you never read DC Comics before, but its been done many times over the years and seems like a rerun to me. And what little story there is did not need to be spread over 3 issues.

Im staying away from them altogether. Im not going to slam anything I havent read, but giving what ive seen in the recent past I rather stick with silver/bronze age material.
Those books are what superheroes are all about, imo.

I'm sticking with Aquaman only for now. But I don't know that I would consider myself "hooked" by the New 52 relaunch event. It was pretty clear after Brightest Day that there was probably going to be a new Aquaman book. I think this Aquaman series would have happened regardless of the 52 relaunch. I'm mainly buying this because IMHO this is the best treatment Aquaman's gotten since the late 70's. And I collect Aquaman comics, at least the ones that are the Silver Age representation of the character. Which this is......for now.

I heard so many positive comments about Scott Snyder's Batman title that I decided to track down the first couple of issues. I think the writing and story or excellent. But I don't really care for the artwork at all. It's o.k., but it looks like it was done by Pixar. It's like the Incredibles version of Batman.

Since I've only got limited room for my comic collection, and since I'm not completely thrilled with the entire product, I had to really ask myself whether I wanted to keep going with Batman. I was torn since I really liked the story, but I think the deal breaker was that they didn't keep the original numbering. So at some point they're going to undo this whole "New 52" thing, go back to the original numbering, and this just becomes some weird hybrid, defunct Bat-title.

Actually, this Batman title has gotten me to seriously consider something I thought I would never contemplate: digital downloads. For comics that I want to read, but don't have the space or desire to bag, board and store as part of my collection.
