>by not sticking with the classic and time-tested look, the film makers are subconsciously admitting they cannot successfully make a film with the character we all know and grew up with.
That's what gets me about a lot of movie adaptions; so.... you think the character (who's been around for over 70 years) is good enough to make a movie of, with a budget bigger than that of some cities.... BUT; them undies? They gotta go. It may have worked for almost a century, but now.... I dunno....
Then the REAL changes start.
>I sincerely want this to be the success it needs to be.
I think, no matter what; it'll do okay. For a big budget film to tank these days is the exception it seems. Probably 'cos most folks will go see anything at least once.
>Can they at least make it a red codpiece?

>I'm more concerned about the idea that the movie will be about another DC hero moping around for 105 minutes before deciding to do something superheroic in the last act. Would I prefer Superman wear his underwear outside his tights? Yes. But if I had to choose to worry about that or the possibility of Man of Steel being yet another origin story for the world's best known superhero, I'm worrying about the latter. The Mego Museum Superhero from the year 2011Comment

I would prefer Superman with his briefs but it's not a deal breaker for me. The colors look good. Bright and heroic. The suit in the last movie were way too dark. The the Golden Age logo is way cool. Plus Cavill looks like he could move a planet if he wanted too.Better late than never.....Comment

I have to agree with you on the preferring a solid action-packed story than his all blue suit (with huge long arse cape)...as long as we see Supes kicking major arse...the last thing I wanna see is another Superman chick flick...lol.
Plus Cavill looks the part...great casting...I didn't want another Chris Reeve clone.sigpicComment

Some new close-up shots of Cavill in the super suit. I don't think you guys are gonna like it....but I still think Henry makes a GREAT Superman.

Clearly they want to send out the message, there is a total re-branding going on. Interesting they would take that kind of risk in a big budget film, before they even know if it will fly in the comics (no pun intended). Very irresponsible if you ask me. Why would you test a new look with a $200 million dollar film? That's insane.Comment
