I'm not going to make a final judgment until I see Cavill in the suit on screen, but why oh WHY does EVERY designer in every field think you have to busy up everything? CLEAN people, clean.
It doesn't bother me actually Cavil Looks like a Badarse in the suit and built like a Mother ****er!......sorry no more soft *** can you read my mind bull crap I want a Supes that's gonna pummel and beat the **** a few baddies to a pulp.....the Costume looks like what someone from Krypton would wear not what Ma Kent sewed never ever liked that explanation in the comics.......
Red underwear is overrated.......if they put red underroos on that suit it would look ridiculous......
....and truly marvel at the DC marketing machine. 'Specially since they said their goal was to snag the adolescent male market. "Gee.... what do young males like? I know!"

The new Superman costume still bothers me...I'll have to get used to it.
The long arse red cape actually bothers me more than the all blue suit.
But...I see what you are saying...this new getup is more modern...like it could happen in real life...and yes...red undies will not look good in this type of costume.
But like you...I want this new Supes to kick some major arse...and yes, Cavill is really buffed...unlike skinny Brandon Routh...Cavill really looks the part.
I still love the old classic uniform the best...but I'm open-minded enough to give this new Superman look a chance...
Amazing how this character has one of the most iconic costumes in comic history, yet the Studios always want to change it! Excuse me Time Warner! Change the freakin' story and leave Supes alone!

...I just want a great Superman movie, dammit!!!
That's all I'm asking for....I mean what's the sense of having a costume accurate and a bull**** story and lame action......and please please they need to move away from the Chris Reeve Superman it's iconic and needs to be left alone.....
The Long Cape reminds me of George Reeves Centurion style long cape.....actually that's what he looks like a Kryptonian Centurion
Strange how the outfit looks better without the cape.
Still really dig the shield!
If the "buckle" at his navel and the thicker "rib" around his waist were the same gold as the background of the shield, it might help break up all that blue.
I will say that all the rubber bits around his waist are quite slimming.
I've pondered the problem with tweeking the costume as they have. And I have finally reached a rationale that is the basis for my concern. The film industry is currently flooded with superhero films. Now for us, that is a dream come true. We're getting films made that most of us never thought we would see in our lifetime. But there are two opposing forces coming from either side that could bring all this to an end. The first is the studios. When they invest big money, they want big results. Period. Their not getting that with this current flood of films. Sure their making some money, but most of these films are needing overseas help to reach that tally. So the days of a superhero film being an "event" are dwindling. The second is the general public. They've digested alot of "hero" product in the past couple of years and one thing is quite apparent - Alot of these heroes don't look like their comic counterparts. What's worse, their all starting to look like they get their costumes from the Rubbermaid store.
Spiderman's new look is...rubber. Cap's new look for the Avengers...rubber. Thor's outfit - rubber. Green Lantern - rubber. And of course, Batman started the craze. But in my eyes he sort of owns that corner of the market since the Keaton-era Batman opened the door for this industry. Everyone has simply copied that look since.
So now we have Superman who was immortalized by Christopher Reeves in '78 with nothing more than form fitting tights. THAT is what people like. THAT is what people identify with Superman. His costume is not really open to interpretation. The community WANTS THAT suit. When they look into the sky, they don't want to say, "It's bird! It's a plane! Oh it's a basketball..." They want the big "S" surrounded by bright blue, red, and yellow. Without it, he becomes...well...just another generic hero in a rubber outfit. In stripping away his iconic outfit, they are taking away a big part of his appeal. And so, from the public's perspective, he blends in with everyone else. Right now he looks like off spring from the X-men and Green Lantern. That's not Superman. And I bet it will reflect in the final box office tally.
But I think most of us can agree...the dude looks like Superman (aside from the costume)...and is ripped...he would smash Brandon Routh into a bloody pulp...lol.
