Isn't it nice to have an opinion

Thank you Village Idiot! As the Branded Moron, I am happy to know that I am in good company!

I also find it very difficult to sit all the way through any of the first four movies these days, even my favorite of the time...Batman Returns.

Then in the end, it all seems so silly. Just as silly as the 60s Batman movie, if you ask me. Maybe even more silly, as it plays the whole thing straight. At least the 60s film were tongue-in-cheek. But watching the interrogation with Batman and The Joker is laughable. They're trying to be realistic and serious with a guy in a Bat suit and one in clown make-up. Regardless of how cool and gritty it looks, it's still unrealistic and silly.

^I'm in the same boat, so you're not alone. Definitely enjoyed it. But an 8-minute film and a 2-hour film are two entirely different things. Not saying that it couldn't be sustained, but I think audiences would have a hard time swallowing such a muscle-bound Bruce Wayne.

If we rated Batman according to cosmetics only, my list would look entirely different.

    1) Batman Dead end
    2) Batman Returns
    3) Batman '89
    4) Dark Knight
    5) Batman '66
    6) Batman Begins
    7) Batman Forever
    8) Batman and Robin
    9) Batman serials

    3. Batman (1989)

I agree that Ledger deserved the Oscar. I'm not sure whether he would have won it had he not passed away. The academy doesn't usually reward big summer movies.

I think the reason I rate Nolan's films so high is because I am of the opinion that comic books and films are two different forms of media: what works in one doesn't automatically mean it will work in the other. When I go to a movie based on a comic book, I want to see a great movie, not a comic book that's been turned into a movie.

Granted, Nolan's movies are not strict interpretations of the comic books, more of his adaptation of the the source material. But I feel Nolan's movies overall stay true to the spirit of the Batman comics and are faithful to the most important aspects of the characters. And their excellent films with great performances. Rarely do I feel compelled to see a movie a second time in the theatures, let alone in the same weekend, but that's what I did with the Dark Knight.

Batman 1966 is a fun movie and truer to the Batman comics of the 1960's than most fan boys would care to admit.

if you like Batman the Animated series you have to see Mask of the Phantasm it's the only animated one which was a theatrical release and it is excellent. and it's like 5.00 at walmart I think in a double set with Sub Zero
Thanks jds1911a1! Looks like MOTP is the movie of choice...I'll keep an eye out for the two pack, between WalMart & Fry's I should be able to score.

Ditto on both a'these, too. Julie Newmar's Catwoman will ALWAYS be Catwoman in my mind. She was just so----feline. And fine....!
