I don't hate the movies or anything and they are well done. The style is just not my cup of tea. Never got into Bales Batman voice. Kevin Conroy and Michael Keaton talk in a deeper voice as Batman which works really well. But Bales always comes off kinda overdone and a maybe little hoarse and croaky.

Don't care for the Nolen Batmobile design either. Too bulky. I prefer the sleaker look of the Arkham Asylum Batmobile.

I do really like Michael Caine as Alfred and Gary Oldman as Gordon.
MY VIEW ON NOLAN'S BATMANVERSE [Part The First]

No, you are NOT alone in your "meh"ness towards the Nolan take on Batman's universe.

Let me preface by saying, I absolutely LOVED Memento. I thought it was freaking brilliant and I could watch it a dozen times over and still catch something new every time. I also enjoyed Insomnia and The Prestige----both good films.

I was therefore tickled s**tless when I heard he was taking on the Batman franchise.

I enjoyed BATMAN BEGINS. I liked that someone gave us a deeper look into the origins of the character and showed us his training overseas. I loved that they introduced Ras Al Ghul into a Batman movie finally and that they had a good actor to pull it off. I thought the Tumbler was good for a start as the Batmobile as it is probably something that would happen and it would eventually get sleeker as time went by. I did not particularly care for the suit in BB, especially the fact that the cape looks too set apart from the rest of the outfit; looks like he pulled out a piece of velour fabric and attached it to this body armour suit; the two don't mesh. Batman's cape is as much a part of his character as Spawn's is his; it's what allows him to melt into and blend with the shadows. The guy who did BATMAN: DEAD END knew this and used it well. And I, too, was not real happy with the extreme "raspy" voice Bale put on when he went into the Batman persona. If you have the technology to have all this other stuff, why wouldn't you have a small device attached to the neck of the cowl to subtly alter your speaking voice without making you sound like you've got a bad case of laryngitis?

    Part II coming shortly....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I've enjoyed the Batman movies. However, Nolan can't direct/edit action sequences very well.

My brother's in Pittsburgh today as an extra in a big football game scene at a stadium. Can't wait until he gets back and gives me a report.

You are not alone...I'm getting to the point that repeated viewings of Bale with his raspy voice are becoming comical and distracting.

The first film isn't something that I've watched repeatedly...Neither Ra's Al Ghul or the Scarecrow were my cup of tea. The relationships between Batman and Alfred and Gordon are the best parts.

The Dark Knight is a great film and Ledger's Joker is phenomenal but overall the picture is just waaaay too long IMO...especially for repeated viewings. And although the whole Dent/Two-Face thing is tragic he really wasn't used to his full potential IMO other than as a tool of the Joker. Two-Face is a good villain in his own right, not just as someone else's patsy.

And I too agree that I would have expected the Bat-equipment to be a little sleeker by now...

Looks like something from Sy Fy (and yes, that's a slam).

Even schlocky Black Scorpion was more interesting.

I have no doubt that Anne Hathaway will make a good Catwoman. She's a very fine actress. I like the costume and she looks good. Maybe Nolan has a different approach in mind for the character. Catwoman doesn't have to be a tightly clad sex bomb only. She can be a many faceted character.

I have a feeling that this is the final outfit. I could be wrong though (wouldn't be the first time). Personally, I think it looks okay.

Besides, it still could have turned out much worse than this.

Considering Chistopher Nolan’s realistic bent, this is not bad. Toss a helmet on her and she’s fine. But do folks remember this?

The thing is, we don't know at what point in the movie this is or even what's going on in the scene aside from her on the Batcycle (I hate calling it Batpod). So we can't exactly judge the whole movie or even their take on the character based on this one picture. I'm sure she'll look awesome.
