That's a biggie for me too; but I think the attitude will be the usual actioner kinda thing. Dredd was about over the top; the best stories were always the ones where some weird little fad gets blown into impossible proportions. The idea that they already feel the need to "tone it down" with the costumes implies that they'll do the same with the story; making it that much closer to everything else.

It's fairly likely they've stripped away most of the cool and crazy stuff that makes Dredd and his world so unique, and have simply toned everything down to make it another generic sci-fi action movie.
I'll bet they don't capture the essence of the character.
