This was truly a remarkable accomplishment merging a comic book character into a period piece. The choice to make this in a WWII setting was genius, just pure magic. Every facet of this film works. The spy used in the super soldier chamber really was a throwback to the serials of the 30's and 40's. I cannot say enough good thingsabout this movie. This is the turning point of Evans career, where he becomes legitimate instead of wiseass sidekick.

Marvel/Disney as set the comic book movie bar pretty damn high. Hopefully WB is on the business end of the Marvel pimp hand and realizes this is how you make movies.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

DC/WB seriously need to get their act together....Marvel has had some flops but lately they've been aligning all their stars to go straight in to The Avengers...That trailer after Captain America looks like it's gonna be good.

Meanwhile DC/WB has to get Superman off the ground, figure out what happens after the 3rd Nolan/Bale Batman film, try to salvage GL, plus get a Wonder Woman movie out there, not to mention The Flash and Aquaman.
I think it's gonna be an uphill battle for DC to pull off a JLA movie in a timely reasonable fashion....

For those who missed it......this Golden nugget
Ha! I hadn't noticed it even said "Phineas Horton's Synthedroid" or whatever.

This is the first movie in a long time where I'm really anticipating another chance to see it in a theater. I have to see this again.

By comparison, GL was playing in my hometown this weekend, and I didn't make time to go again. I'll eat crow and admit I thought GL would be the superior flick. I was dead WRONG.

Yes, DC/WB has their work cut out for them. The company that once couldn't get a movie OFF of video tape is now making some of the best, most entertaining movies out there, even if they WEREN'T comic movies!!!

Oh, and can we PLEASE have a nice round of applause for Ms. Atwell..:

She was wonderful.. Worked very well with Tommy Lee Jones' scene-stealing one-liners, especially the 'Well, I AIN'T GONNA KISS YA..' line..

                I'm in love.

She was great. The best love interest in a comic film...maybe ever? She was her own character, not just a pretty prop for the hero to save.

As for Jones, I loved some of his lines, like the one you mentioned, and another where Zola asks him what is in his steak:

                  "Cow."

I think the same thing could easily be said of Blake Lively's Carol Ferris character in Green Lantern. She was NOT your typical whiney, super-hero movie girl (plus----the woman is built!!!)

You know, Miss Atwell would probably make a fine Wonder Woman, too, now that I think about it.....

Ferris was a notch above most super-girl friends, but Peggy Carter was portrayed as a hero in her own right, so I gotta go with her.

Oh, I agree that she did a fine job and her character was also NOT your typical whiney super-hero girl, either. Anybody wanna make a bet with me that Steve runs into her grandaughter in current times and her name is "Sharon"? Heck, might've even been the girl SHIELD was using when he first woke up in present day....

I'm carrying such a crush on Atwell right now. She was awesome. Hope they bring her back as Sharon Carter.

It's been a few days since I saw it and I have some stray thoughts on the movie.
I finally have a voice for Cap. When I read Supeman, I hear Bud Collier. When I read Batman, I hear the Batman voice actor from Graphic Audio (Can't remember his name, sorry). Even though I've heard Cap in numberous toons & audio, I never had a voice for him. I think part of the problem is that the voices used were to painfully ernest. Thanks to Chris Evans, Cap now has a voice.

The last couple of movies I've seen (All Star Superman, and Captain America) have been about good men. After over a decade of men being portrayed as baffoons and over grown children (I'm looking at you Tim Allen & Will Ferrell) it's good to see "men" portrayed on the big screen.

Did anyone else get a Max Von Sydow vibe from Hugo Weaving?

                                I want an SSR t-shirt!
                                Hey! Check out the pictures.
