It kinda got vaporized when its Red Sun went supernova (which would incinerate pretty much anything and everything).

To make matters worse, they STILL have Kal-El begin affected by the green K even though, in the part of space he was in (even IF Krypton's sun DID still exist) he would NOT have his super abilities and would likely be immune to the irradiated pieces of his homeworld (not to mention the shielding on his ship must've been for crap for it to affect him at all!).

One can only hope that THE MAN OF STEEL will return Superman to his rightful spot as a box-office legend....
    Agreed...agreed...and agreed...

And, okay, maybe, for artistic license (and for the creation of Kryptonite) Krypton wasn't vaporized, but i don't think there'd be a heck of a lot of it left, either....!

And, yes, 'Splodes is an accurate scientific term (at least as far as I'm concerned)....

      You're right.

I'm glad we settled this and the 'splodes debate. Now we just need 300 million dollars to make our own Superman movie and we're all set!

I also agree with this statement...I like Superman Returns...but did not like the kid storyline though.

I believe a few months ago I questioned the internal logic of movie "Superman Returns" based on the fact that Superman wanted to visit Krypton, even though it was an entire planet made of Kryptonite which was the only thing that could kill him, and Hector laughed at me. Laughed I tell you!

                In a real scenario...if a sun goes supernova...nothing...and I mean absolutely nothing...will remain of any nearby planets...lol.

For some reason that scene made me think of the Enterprise entering V'ger.

Yeah---except that actually made SENSE and the ENTERPRISE evidently has much better shielding than Kal-El's crystalline ship...

Head a lot about this deleted sequence over the years.
                          Interesting to finally see it.

I liked that scene and it would certainly give some balance to the narrative in Returns.
I thought Returns was a decent flick and Routh was a pretty good Superman in a Christopher Reeves kind of style. My only disappointment with Returns was the use of Lex Luthor as villain yet again + they stole Cyclops when he was really needed badly in X 3
