    Nostalgia is dead

You Have Got to Be @#$%ing Kidding Me - Topless Robot

If we're bringing back CAPTAIN PLANET, we've run out of properties to mine.

I'm looking forward to the big budget film of "Colgate VS the Cavity Creeps" in 2013.

Thinking of missing nostalgia makes me all wistful and---uhm---nostalgic....

BTW, I heard Wendy's is already on the lookout for a new Clara to help find the beef....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

          Hmmmm....

Captain Planet was around for a long time.... so there's name recognition, which is the key. (Folks think I'm kidding when I say that ANY series you can name is probably being pushed somewhere RIGHT NOW. Who'da thunk Vanilla Ice would ever be in the spotlight again, eh?) I've also heard it's one of Turner's personal pet projects, which is why it lasted for 6 years. The ratings were poor, but he wouldn't let it die. If that's true then it's surprising it took THIS long. (I've also heard he was responsible for cancelling SWATKats....)

But the REAL question: gritty reboot or wacky comedy?

For some reason every time I hear word Nostalgia I think of 2 things: 1) Veidt Industries 2) A line from that Sunscreen song.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
Supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
Fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
Ugly parts and recycling it for more than
                    It's worth.

I noticed that yesterday. Here's my feelings on Captain Planet.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I heard recently on a radio show that my daughter likes that "My Little Pony" is super popular among 20 something males. Not trying to judge but I don't get it. Nostalgia is dead. Just wait until "My Little Pony" hits a theater near you and the theaters are packed with mid to late 20 year old males....

Getting back to Captain Planet; it looks familiar but I really don't remember it. I am having some strange flashback to some type of comic book hero similar to Captain Planet that they used to hand out in school back in the late '70's but can't think of the name for the life of me.

the thing with that , is that some of us grew up watching it and seeing because of our sisters...it's the same with Jem and rainbow brite

my sister was always watching that stuff, so when you have no choice but to watch it...it kind of stays with you
