Which version does everyone like better? I still haven't seen the Donner cut yet. Thinking about finally picking up a copy this weekend.

Superman 2 Lester or Donner cut?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Tags: None -
Lester.
As much as I don't like the amnesia kiss, it's better then flying around the world again.Comment

The Donner cut, although basically the Donner cut is an unfinished one even with all the new scenes. The scenes between Reeve and Brando are alone worth it.Comment

The first version, (is that Lester?), is the one I like better."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

I think I want a hybrid cut. Add in the Jor-el scenes and Lois wearing the Superman shirt. Leave out the flying around the world thing again. My favorite part is Clark beating up the trucker. I cheer every time.Comment

Donner's would have been a lot better - thematically way more interesting. Of course, it's unfinished, so it can't really be viewed as a complete film. The comparison is kinda not fair that way.
At least it doesn't have those really dated dumb jokes and Superman doesn't have huge sweat stains in his armpits at the end of the movie.
SPOILERS:
The fact that Superman had to give up something to get his power back is SO much better for the story.
Though (as I think we discussed before) the bit where he goes back to that bar and beats up a guy once his powers are back makes a lot less sense now that he's reversed time and no one knows who the hell he is.Comment

Two things that have always driven me nuts - and to my memory I don't think either version addresses these:
A) Superman (now powerless) and Lois suddenly have a car in the middle of the north pole. I guess Supes could have left it there for some reason - but really?
B) Superman (still powerless) decides he has to go back to his fortress and get his powers back - why does he walk and hitch back? Lois can't take another sick day and drive him back?
Maybe one of you guys can help me out here.Comment
