Green Lantern SUCKS...HORRIBLE movie...period.
That's how I feel about that crap fest...lol.
Ryan Reynolds fighting bad guys with his Loony Tunes ACME arsenal...lol.
Like I said...Catwoman has at least the delicious Halle Berry to look at it.
Wow...now I can't even hate on a crappy movie just because some of you guys like it? Get the hell outta here with that stuff...

Green Lantern was More like the Comics, than Thor or A Made-up X-men Cast Thrown together Ever were and was. 90% of the Negative Comments on this Board with the Film, is people that Know Nothing about Green Lantern. I personally Hate Harry Potter, and am so Sick and Tired of Warner Brothers Focusing in on That Crap rather than Trying to make A Vast Collection of SuperHero Movies with "Thier" DC Property. If DC Only could ***** thier characters out like Marvel Did ..., that would be something.
Movie GL had ZERO personality just like comic GL and cartoon GL.
Marvel movies do well because the characters have a lot more going on, are more relatable, and just generally more interesting.
Hell, I liked Ghost Rider more than GL.
Marvel is also willing to take chances DC is not. Another Superman movie is on it's way, and gee, we get General Zod AGAIN as a villain. So out of six Superman movies, four have Lex Luthor and three have General Zod, and rather than use another of his MANY villains, they made RICHARD PRYOR the bad guy in one.
The Spider-Man trilogy used four different villains, and the reboot is wisely going with another previously unused one.
I could go on, but my point is this...GL did not invoke an emotional response from me. I didn't care about Hal Jordan, so I didn't care what happened to him. The latest Captain America trailer actually made me tear up. It focuses on Steve Rogers, the MAN and not the powers, and THAT is what makes a great superhero movie.Comment

No need to get so defensive or fight amongst ourselves over a movie (it is after all, just a movie)...please.
Many here hate Superman Returns...a movie I like...perhaps I'm biased because I'm a Supes fan (but then again, I hated Smallville, so go figure, lol)...but I'm OK with the negative feedback it gets here...some like it...some hate it...just like Green Lantern...we can't all agree on everything.Last edited by Hector; Jul 2, '11, 6:09 PM.sigpicComment

And why do we have to keep quiet if some of us hated Green Lantern?
Are we forbidden to negatively criticize the movie?
Is that topic off limits?
If I love a movie...I keep saying how great it was...and if I hate it...I'll keep saying how terrible it was...that's how the game works.
I'm not attacking ANYONE in here personally...I'm attacking the damn bloody movie...know the difference.sigpicComment

I just want to comment on the original article, which I found ridiculous. It's obvious to me that the author of the article, Daniel Frankel, was under pressure to come up with a written piece in a hurry. So, he decided to cobble together an article that attempted to cover the three 2011 super-hero movie "bombs." Except there's one huge problem with that.
As of today, "Thor" has grossed $437,077,239 and is on pace to go over $500 million. "Thor," therefore, is not a "bomb" and the entire premise of Frankel's article (and his goofy "Top Five" list) is fallacious.Type Two: The Mego body, not the disease.Comment

Well, she did show some...talent, in Swordfish.
As far as movies are concerned: I'm 42, and I've seen a lot of movies & TV shows. At this point, I care a lot more about plot, acting & character development than I used to. Going to the movies is much more of a commitment, both in terms of time & money, than watching a DVD or satellite. Therefore, I read several reviews before watching a movie in the theater. If it's not a solid B or better, I wait for the DVD.
Green Hornet: Thought I'd like it, but wasn't sure. Waited for the DVD and wound up fast-forwarding through about 1/2. Too much Seth Rogen; too slow.
Bad Teacher: I love Bad Santa, and want to love Bad Teacher. However, the reviews say it's a little too wishy-washy, so I'll wait for the DVD.
Kick ***: Not fine cinema, but I really liked it. Glad I saw it on DVD so I could rewind some of the better fights. Still, pretty sure I fast-forwarded through some slow parts.
GL, Thor, X-Men: I want to see them all, but as a former fanboy, I already know much of the backstory. Based on reviews I've seen, I'm expecting to want to be able to fast-fwd through the origin stories, except maybe for some special effects. So, I'll see them, but probably on DVD.
Bottom line - Hollywood needs to make better movies if they want people to go to the theater. Toy Story 3 rocked. I'm glad I saw it on the big screen. Cars 2, not so much; DVD. I expect better.
I can see Game of Thrones or True Blood on HBO, The Daily Show on Comedy Central, Sherlock on PBS, Mad Men, Community, Boardwalk Empire, etc. The bar has been raised.Last edited by Duncan; Jul 2, '11, 6:51 PM.Comment
