    Batman Odyssey (Neal Adams) review

As a Neal Adams fan (especially of his Batman art), I was pretty excited when I heard about Batman: Odyssey, written and drawn by Adams.

Get ready to laugh out loud at this conversation about the first six issues: Deconstructing the Complete and Utter Insanity of 'Batman: Odyssey' - ComicsAlliance | Comic book culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

As a writer, he is one hell of an artist.

Executive summary: This is worse than All Star Batman and Robin.
    My Updated Want List:
    Comic book original art
1970s Hulk or Spider-man metal garbage can
    Custom Mego Nexus, Grendel

Have lots of comics and Marvel Legends figures for trades. Thanks!

Yeah, I flipped through some issue of that at a comic shop and my jaw just dropped to the floor. Not sure what Neal was thinking with these. The fact that DC greenlit this is another reason I have no confidence in their reboot.

That was....bizarre and how long has Bruce been Wolverine hairy? Weird.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Clearly, Neal Adams has joined Frank Miller in his quest to destroy the
comics icon that MADE both their careers. Makes me glad Denny O'Neil can't draw.*

I don't know. Miller wrote a lot about how he hates Marvel in the Sin City letter columns. I think he has a more passive-aggressive relationship with DC. I suspect "All Star Batman and Robin" was a intentional middle finger to DC.

I don't think Adams has a similar motivation. I just don't think he is the writer he would like to be. Or maybe he'll create six brilliant (or at least decent) issues to wrap up his maxi-series and offer a pleasant surprise.

              ....
YEAH ... Perhaps 1 day ... I can get threw the 5 issues I have, but It might just be a Wash , and I will never read them.

              I got the 1st 5 issues ...
I was just sorta saving them until I had them all ..., I do this with certain books from time to time , and when I am real busy in life..., The " Go-TOO's" are always put in the front of the Pile for me ...

But a month or so ago ..., I ran outta stuff to read, and #1 was just sitting there..., so I jumped in it. I read before Bed ..., and it took me like 5 Nights just to get Threw this Bull**** ...,I literally kept falling asleep , and I dunno what I even read at this point. Chicken-Scratch Over Crosshatching Lines of Junk aside .... Book 1's story just left me not caring at all.

I just don't need a Review to tell me I wasted My Money .... Coulda used it when book 1 came out.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

always trading for Hot Toys Figures .

Sadly, if only DC had gotten Denny O' Neil to write the series, it would have been a moneymaker for them, reuniting the classic team.

I can understand why DC greenlit it. It's a legendary creator working on a character he had a legendary run on. It could have been written in piglatin and Neal's fan base would have bought it.
Having said that, it's a strange read. I treat it like an art book. I ignore the text and just study the illustration.

Kinda glad I never picked this up. I had heard bad things from the get go and I lied to the comic store guy who holds Batman things for me. I told him I was waiting for the trade. At which point I might have to lie again and say someone bought it for me already. But then, he probably already knows its an awful book and wont even order the trade unless somebody requests it.

It's amazing to me that Adam's could work so long in comics and be as opinionated as he is and still have no clue as to how to actually write a comic. Also, that he could work so long with this character and be so closely associated with Batman and yet obviously doesn't get what this character is about.

But what really blows me away is that there's probably an editor listed on this book. What exactly does the editorial staff at DC actually do these days?

I'm a Neal Adams fan (especially on Batman), and I didn't buy it. It was way too out there for me.

My point was DC-powers-that-be will green light anything without thinking things through and checking the actual content. It's an atmosphere of "let's see what sticks" there now. Crap sticks too.
