But Yet it's Thier "Right" To Consistantly Bash something Over 20 times now, in Multiple Threads , with the Shots becoming More Rediculous with Each Post , where it has Clearly Moved away from the Idea of Voicing an Opinion about a Movie . I think some of these posts now, and Be viewed as Attacking your Fellow Member Personally.
I have absolutely nothing against you (I like you in fact)...or anybody else in here.
I just hate the movie...that's all.Last edited by Hector; Jul 4, '11, 4:13 PM.sigpicComment

I'm sorry...and I'm not going to point fingers or name names...but some of you are contradicting yourselves.
I vividly remember some of you trashing Avatar...a movie I liked a lot from the very beginning...I got a lot of flack for it...and you were relentless at it...like I am being with Green Lantern now...but not once did I get defensive (nor got mad)...because I take it in stride...and realize there are just opinions...and that it's just a movie.
I never took the Avatar bashing as personal...I didn't make the bloody movie...nor made money from it...so who cares if you bash it...lol.
BTW...my Superman Returns received quite a bashing here too...and to this day...still does...lol.Last edited by Hector; Jul 4, '11, 4:07 PM.sigpicComment

People here... "comicbook geeks" "fans" ... or whatever you want to
call them, that are on this board, DO make it personal. I've seen it
time and time again.
And their behavior and the subsequent reactions TO that behavior have
a lot more to do with personal snipes than merely disagreeing on a movie
or a comicbook issue..... if ONLY it ended at that.
Then the perps have the boldness to play it coy.
I'd ask that you step back and center on the issues themselves before
getting personal, because that's where things have gotten unhinged for
me over the years around here."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

There you go. Ribs trump everything. MMMM...ribs...I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

It's like in the retro-action threads where the same handful of people insisted on gleefully dumping on the stuff over and over and over again. Thread after thread after thread. Or like when I'd start a WW thread and the same few people would post derogatory pics over and over. That hasn't happened recently and I thank everyone for that. But I used to avoid the comic forum altogether for awhile because I got so sick of it.
When people do stuff like that it goes past saying that they dislike something and just comes off as trying to dump on threads and cause hard feelings. It can get frustrating when you just want to discuss a topic when people are trying to dump on it. It's not about disliking something. Never was. It's about being mean about it.
Also, teasing and ribbing can often be hard to tell from just being mean online. So if I'm not sure people will get it, I just don't do it anymore. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

I think you’ve got to be careful though:
>Also, teasing and ribbing can often be hard to tell from just being mean online.
Exactly right. I’ve had more than a few threads almost turn into a fight. It was never my intention to cheese folks off; but I tend to have very different takes on things than most people here and it’s tough to express them without seeming recalcitrant if I can’t read how someone’s taking what I’m saying. It’s especially difficult if you’re trying to explain something that’s directly opposed to what someone else thinks. By way of example; I genuinely disliked Avatar, and I’ve explained why in another post but because Hector liked it so much it’s tough for him to wrap his head around the concept, so dissenters are just “haters” as far as he’s concerned. Could the situation be reconciled? Sure, but it’d be a LOT of work, considering that online you’re missing about 95% of the cues you’d get in normal face to face interaction. Not to mention the other folks that’d come in during the discussion. (Hector has many friends.... POWERFUL friends....)
So.... what’s the moral? I dunno. I always try to cut folks some slack online. I’m pretty thick skinned, so I can let a lot slide.
