Not sure word of mouth still has some power......Lot's of my friends who were iffy now want to see it after they asked me was it worth while......as long as they continue to promo and the word goes out it may still do well......

Batman Begins I remember had this problem......I knew a lot of people who refused to see it....but once the word went out that it was good people went to see it.......

True, but Thor is a fantasy movie, and while I'm not a big Thor comic fan, Thor is a much better, much more fun movie than Green Lantern. Thor has a more coherant script, better character development and solid acting which enhances the "fun-ness" of it.

I don't expect or even want all comic book movies to be like X-men: First Class or the Nolan Batman movies. But I also don't think being a "fun, lighthearted, fantasy" movie gives a movie like Green Lantern a free pass to have weak script, poor character development and mediocre acting.

It's cool, I'm clearly in the minority on this.

With all the preliminary stuff out of the way, hopefully the sequel will be stronger.

I gotta go with the critics here.

if 1 or 2 people don't like it, that can be easily written off as a fluke, or personal preference.

when nobody likes it, it's the movie.

these people are paid to review movies, and their opinions hold weight. I am of the 'I will definitely make up my own opinion after having seen it crowd' which is exactly what I did here.

                  I wanted to love it.

I didn't. I did like it, but I think the fans deserve much better, and am sorry to see that this is what they got, and they're so shocked that it isn't good, that they're doing everything they can to try to spin it positively.

but it's not a great movie. It's a good movie, and if you saw it for a matinee price, you got your money's worth.

I would put it on par with Superman Returns. Definitely not as bad as Steel, Batman and Robin, or Catwoman, but no better than Superman Returns.

Also, for those looking for the John Stewart cameo, he's standing directly behind Tom during the dogfight scene.

                        Ok...I've just seen it...but I'm kinda tired...so I'm taking a nap...will get into detail a bit more later.

                        It was not bad...some things I liked...and some I didn't.

I'll just leave you with one thing though...

Anybody else got annoyed by Hal Jordan's girlfriend?

Ok...that's it for now...I'll be back later...

As far as love interests for super heroes, I liked her better than most. Certainly more than the movie's Mary Jane, most Lois Lanes, ANY Batman girlfriend (except Catwoman), and various others who have just felt like they were THERE because they had to be to fit Hollywood formula.

I agree! Didn't the critics like Superman Returns? I think it was a great movie too as a matter of fact I liked both GL and SR but maybe I just like bad Super Hero movies?

She ranks 13 for me (pretty much a tie for next to last place)

love interest usually just DON"T interest me.

but my favorites (or least disliked)
