I have just seen the 12:01AM showing in Whitestone, NY.

    Five Stars ***** ! (That's right 5 not 4).

I won't give away any spoilers. I will say-PAY ATTENTION!!!! This film doesn't waste any time really. Virtually every minute is good from the beginning until the last line. They are starting to integrate the MARVEL Universe. You might catch references to other characters. We can debate it when more people have seen the film. Kenneth Brannagh & the writers must have read the Comic Books because this is more than a THOR fan could have hoped for IMO.

And as always STAY PAST THE CREDITS!!!

Have to agree! I saw it last night and for sure its a 5 star film. It's fun and action packed. Great costumes and effects. I saw it in 3D because that's what was offered, but you don't need to see it in 3D. Next time I see it (in a few days) I'll be seeing the 2D version.

Yeah, I didn't want to say anything about the 3D but the 3D gimmick is unnecessary. The film is impressive and I didn't find the 3D very impressive.

Yes 5 stars as well and ALOT of little nods and cameos that were cool! If Cap is this good then the Avengers is going to kick ***!!!

nightwing and john are right - the 3D was unnecessary - I'd go so far as to say it was distracting and lessened to quality of the film.

otherwise I really liked it. It is not in the same level as The Dark Knight, Spider-Man or Iron Man but an enjoyable film with lots of Geek fun. a solid 4/5 stars

the festival part of my event was mixed - trivia, limited to 4 questions with everyone knowing the answers so it was basically random picks for winners. the costume contest had 5 entrants. you can see 4 in my pics. the 5th was a home kit bashed cap america. (ms. marvel is my friend Kate)

entering the theatre crowds were fun (dinner time) there were a lot of people out. the theatre is in the university gateway district with open air restaurants filled for dinner and people walking about. pretty fun. my wife picked up the kids at 9:30 (already past bedtime.)
leaving the theatre at 2:10am there were ALOT of people out and they had their drink on. the restaurants become watering holes after 11. many were drunk obnoxious but no one too out of hand and no one insulting. they were genuinely surprised to see capt america at the night life hub of Ohio State and may wanted photos.

my kids won the contest. the "judges" automatically threw them in together.
it was audience applause judge decided.

The trailer gave the direction of the nest film and it is what I was hoping for -spoiler>>>

Love the costumes!!! especially giving a some note for the Scarlet Witch!

As for the movie- I'll agree with it being pretty good, but not as good as Dark Knight or as fun as Iron Man. Not that the film isn't very good and quite enjoyable, but I'd go more around 3.5 to 4 out of 5 stars.

Helmsworth turns out to be a pretty good Thor and the updates to the story didn't bother me. I was happy that the theme of humility still played as much of a role as the original Marvel Thor storyline. And I was sated with the geek nods (did you notice the billboard?)

I will say I thought it was a bit overtold. Did we really need the whole voiceover intro in the beginning. Even for a non-comic fan, ts pretty well explained over the course of the film. In spte of that, i still really enjoyed the movie.

If all the super hero films that are coming out this summer do as nice a job of capturing the essence of the character and the supporting cast as the Thor film does, this will be a truly great summer for comic book fans.

In and of itself, the film is a fine fantasy/adventure movie, but I'm guessing the more you love Thor, the more you're going to like the picture.

I'm no Thor expert, but I've read and enjoyed most of the Lee/Kirby issues and Simonson's and JMS' run among others, and I found the film to truly honor those men's work. If you want to fuss about Heimdall being black so be it, but the film is a truly faithful, fun and entertaining adaption.

Loved how Thor used his hammer against the Frost Giants. He's a warrior and he "likes to spike the football."

Hemmsworth is pitch perfect, and Hiddleston is convincing in a tough role as Loki and Hopkins sells Odin without the over-the-top bluster that marred his performances in Dracula as Van Helsing and as Pappa Wolf in the Wolf-Man flick.

I'm a bigger fan of Green Lantern and Captain America. If those films come out this good, I'll be thrilled.

Avengers Assemble! Man, that looks like fun! Great costumes, and great pics!

Too bad we don't have anything like that around here.

I plan on seeing it Sunday appropriately enough right after I hit the monthly comic book book show.

saw it tonight, the 3d aspect was a waste, I wish that they'd kill that for another 20 years, I'd give it a B+ comparing it to Ironman which I have a solid A
