I'm surprised it actually is Zod after all, though I can't complain about the choice for the part.

Like the last one , i'll see it once and never buy the dvd. I mean do they really think there are no other worthy characters? do we really have to see remakes of the Reeves movies and Smallville plots? I'm bored and they haven't started filming yet!"Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of DoomComment

I am psyched on the idea of another live action Superman movie...of course this new one might be great... but I too find the Zod angle
a bit odd for this project.
Just to play "fantasy movie producer"...
I am of the mind that the main villain should've been
someone we haven't seen in this role....either DARKSEID, BRAINIAC,
PARASITE, BIZARRO, MYXIE or even a big DCU villain like
SOLOMON GRUNDY that isn't particularly known as a villain of Supes...
it would've been a very BATMAN BEGINS-ish move... and I think would've
been met with much approval out of the gate.
I also would've insisted that Luthor MUST be IN the movie... if only
a short cameo...it's cool to have such a classic DCU/Supes character
given a nod.
I hope "Zod" is a great move by the franchise... but they have a lot going
against them IMHO.Last edited by huedell; Apr 11, '11, 7:02 AM."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I would have gone with Brainiac as the primary villain and Bizarro as the secondary. Brainiac could be given the Kryptonian tie-in again. Everyone is all in awe of Superman until Brainiac appears and introduces the Bizarro clone. Now everyone thinks that Supes is part of an alien invasion and he has to battle against that backlash as well as defeating Brainy and Bizarro. Stack the deck against him so Truth Justice and the American Way can triumph in a big battle finish...Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Horrible casting Michael Shannon was the lame arse with the Boxing gloves running around during the attack in 2001 Pearl Harbor Film LOL.proves again Snyder is the wrong Director for this film! Viggo Mortenson would have been 10 times better as ZodLast edited by kennermike; Apr 11, '11, 11:09 AM.Comment

Anthony, I think your on to something with Bizzaro being a thug for Brianiac or even Luthor. Characters like Metallo and Parasite could be used as secondary antagonists, particularly if Luthor is the villain in a sequel like Scarecrow and and Two-Face were in Nolan's Batman movies
Personally, I would have gone with more of an earth-based threat in the first film and saved the alien invasion maybe for a second or third film. I love the angle of the public losing trust in Superman because he's an alien, but he would first need to earn that trust by taking out one or more earth-based threats.
If I were preparing a franchise:
Film I: Superman would not know of his alien heritage, like in the golden age.
Yes, he was found in a missile-like pod by the Kents, but there are no clues to his Kryptonian origins before he becomes Superman. They might suspect he's an alien or the product of a science experiment or whatever.
Shortly after coming onto the scene, Superman would also help avert a nuclear disaster in a foreign company, aid in the clean-up of a giant oil spill, and help free trapped miners from a terrible cave-in.
A Byrne-like Luthor would be intrigued and threatened by Superman. He would want to know where and how and the extent of Superman's powers. Luthor would test Superman in various ways finally ending with a battle defeating Parasite-type villain. You could have a super-powered slugfest but he would have to also outwit Luthor, who of course would weasel out of taking any blame. Parasite would have a sympathetic Flowers for Algernon like arc. And would be far more threatening than in the recent Secret Origins story.
Film II:
Brianiac invasion. Superman and Luthor grudgingly work together to save earth. In the course of the film, Superman's alien origins are discovered by Luthor and him. After driving off Brianiac both are hailed as heroes but Luthor reveals Superman is an alien and people go nuts. Also, we learn that Brainiac released a pod from his space ship as he leaves earth. Final scene shows that it's Doomsday.
Film III
Thank's to Luthor's big reveal Superman is no longer a hero, but being hunted down by the government and aided by Luthor's Science Police. Superman continues to do his super feats — saving people — but for the most part is underground. While that is going on, Doomsday's pod crashing in India or China and begins tearing up a course west to the USA.
Despite being feared and hated, Superman fights Doomsday all across Europe into the Altantic and finally stopping the creature in downtown Metropolis. But like in the comic he gives his life to do it.
A funeral is held for Superman with him once again being deemed a world hero despite being an alien. But final scene is Brianiac watching the funeral from his spaceship and then deciding to return to conquer Earth.
Film IV
Superman of course isn't dead, he's just worn down. But in his coma-like state, he has an out-of-body experience where he meets Jor-El and Lara and learns more about the specifics of his Kryptonian heritage, including the Phantom Zone. Once he's recharged, Superman battle Brianiac to no avail. In a last ditch effort, he gets Luthor to help him release Zod, Ursa and Non. They help Superman and Luthor defeat Brianiac. But, once the dust settles, they decide to conquer Earth themselves for the cliffhanger ending.
Film V
Basically a grand re-make of Superman II with Luthor playing both sides against each other. Introduce Supergirl. Possibly Brianiac had been holding her in stasis on one of his space ships or maybe she was in the Phantom Zone, but she and Superman ultimately trick Zod and his bunch back into the phantom Zone. Throughout this film, we have cuts to shadowed beings watching or reviewing Superman's battles with Brianiac and the Zone villains on a monitor. End of the film, we find out it's Darksied and his underlings. thus setting up film VI
Film VI
Darksied kidnaps Lois to entice Superman to travel to Apokolips. Bulk of film happens there. Supes battles Kalibak, is tortured by Desade before the final showdown with Darksied. With a Empire Strikes Back-type ending, Supes is defeated by Darksied, who gets ready to invade Earth. A Boom Tube opens an invasion on Earth but at the other end of the tube stands: Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman and Captain Marvel, thus setting up a Justice League movie.Comment
