    90's Marvel Animated Shows

Marvel had a huge surge in animated series in the nineties.

Which ones do you consider the best?

I remember thinking the second season of their Fantastic Four cartoon was pretty good (much better than the first) but I'd have to give it to X Men, it was huge.

Yeah, X-Men was big and so was Spider-Man. I liked the fact they actually used storylines from the books. If only live action films could pull that off.

many people have criticized some of these but I LOVED them - I had been out of comics for years- these got me back in and i really enjoyed them. they also spawned an army of action figures!

        Favorite to least:
Silver Surfer (Though I was left with a cliffhanger)
        X-Men
        Spider-Man
        Iron Man
        Fantastic Four
        Incredible Hulk

        am I forgetting something?

i liked the cartoon origin of venom better than the comic story. wish the movie had used that - i thought they would since they introduced JJJ's son

It is quite astonishing how relatively faithful to the comic storylines they were.

Lower down on the Totem Pole, there was also Spider-Man Unlimited, and Avengers United They Stand. Captain America was on the drawing board as a cartoon set in ww2, but it never made it to air.

I agree that there were some pretty terrific Toy Biz action figures spinning out of the various Animated series as well. As many goofy ones that they did, most of them feel much more like "Toys" than many of the contemporary hyper detailed Legends style figures.

X-men and the spider Man toons were the best. FF and Iron Man and the Avengers were way to juvenile for me. I never cared for SS so i didn't even watch that one. Hulk was okay.
wasn't there a Spiderman cartoon where he was in the alternate universe. was it Ultimate Spider Man? Maybe that was after 2000? that one was okay though

I can't remember which came first, but Spider-man Unlimited and Batman Beyond both came out around the same time in the late nineties.

The Avengers came out on the heels of Iron Man, which took it's cue from the Avengers spinoff comic Force Works.

Which answers the question for future generations of collectors that may be baffled about why this SpiderWoman was released under the Iron Man brand as opposed to Spiderman (or even the generic Marvel U).

I remember working a Saturday shift at Barnes & Noble in the early `90's and an employee called in to ask if he could come in a little later. The manager gave him the O.K. but slammed the phone down at the end of the conversation. "I can't believe Chris called in to ask if he could come in 1/2 hour later because X-Men is on this morning!" LOL!

x men was great. we used to tape them and later airings would be re-edited, like rogue calling someone peckerwood, and the ep titled the unstoppable juggernut! lol best of them hands down. Hated most of the Hulk, Iron Man and FF eps, though the guest spots of Thor and such had me tuned in. Spider man was well reitten but poorly animated. The theme song was Steve Vai!

I watched 'em all, and I particularly liked Spidey, the second season of FF, X-Men and Hulk.
I liked how some of them had crossovers occasionally, too.
