You all can guess how excited I am at this news; I hope it's a good series!!

I think Aquaman, properly handled, can encompass eco-activist, monarch/politician, & superhero. Atlantis can have both sci-fi elements & sorcery.

The trick is to balance the underwater stories with how he interacts with the surface world & it's heroes. It's a broad range of story options that can be successful if juggled creatively and if the book's "bible" is solid.

As to Arthur's powers, I'm all for tweaking him a bit to showcase his abilities & make him more formidable, but I'm basically a traditionalist. Loved him in "Justice."

His exposure in toys & toons lately seems good--maybe that supposed "lame" characterization is fading...
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

The most interesting parts of the new series are the parts that focus on the Rogues.... such as the Reverse Flash origin issue.
I will agree the Reverse Flash origin issue was the best of the series, but my problem with the series is similar to complaints he's been getting about Green Lantern.

The series has become more about the high concept than the hero. I want to know more about Barry than the villains or what's going on in the future. While I've enjoyed a majority of the ideas Johns has introduced in the GL series, I'd like it to be balanced with a bit more about Hal.

I'm scared with Aquaman, he'll introduce some new Atlantian royal court and base the series around its interworkings rather than the adventures of Aquaman.

This might sound stupid, but I think they need to do with Aquaman what they do with...Spongebob Squarepants...acknowledge that it is underwater, but tell stories that don't necessarily hinge on the fact. Take the story you would tell with Batman or Superman and make it underwater. Isn't there crime in Atlantis? Disasters underwater? You'd think they'd be able to come up with SOMETHING.

Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

I've never understood why some people don't care for Aquaman and/or think he's weak. The Brave and the Bold #32 has him and Etrigan clean Cthulu's clock pretty soundly. I doubt Batman or Wolverine could do that.

I have been following this through Rob's Aquaman Shrine. The Aquaman parts look great.

Did he grow a hand back yet?

Are you refering to Black Manta cutting his hand off (again) in Brightest Day? That hand hasn't grown back. However, the White Lantern turned AM into dust so I imagine that when he comes back he'll have a nice new shiney hand.

If Mera plays has a regular spot in the new book I'll buy it. I. The 60s and 70s Mera was always a part of the story and I hope she is again.

Ivan Reis and Joe Prado are going to be the art team on Aquaman with Geoff Johns.

That makes the title a buy for me.

Perhaps at first--but remember that Arthur has super-strength, heightened speed, senses, & reflexes, and telepathy that he curtails.

And now his regeneration ability may become canonical.

Sounds like he could take Logan on...

I may have to break my vow against monthlies on this. Reis is the best penciller going right now and Johns has at least an 85 percent awesome ratio with Flash being the big loser. I hope they can make magic together again.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

I'm in on it. He's still part of the big four to me. I would like to see him interact more with the other heroes in a positive way, rather than the brooding way.
                            It's all good!

I think standard superhero "fair fighting" would be tough for Arthur to win, but once Logan popped his claws, anything goes. I could think of a dozen ways Aquaman could take Wolverine out in a life and death situation, but nothing the Comics Code would go for. One question: does Wolverine need to breathe? Like, does his brain require oxygen in order to heal itself?

I don't think that in 2011 the quasi-tested rule of "who ever is most
popular wins' would allow Aquaman to win vs. Wolverine.

Hey i personally like Arthur better than Logan, but it probably wouldn't
be Art's fight to win these days.
