Something to look forward to! I'm diggin' the new underwater mythology he's weaving in Brightest Day.
I hope Tusky is in the new series. -
Curious to know the Artist before I jump ... Flash was horrible to me ..., but I did like everything I read in Brightest Day thus far.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I am the biggest Aquaman fan on the planet. I have been through just about every start and end with him.
As much as I love Aquaman I sense another "FAIL" coming after about 30 some issues. They just can't keep good writers.
Bring in Peter David (with the rules he keeps Aquaman the same) and I think the books would be a success. Oh wellMore custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

The problem with writing Aquaman and maintaining any kind of sustainable quality is that he's FREAKIN UNDERWATER. How many cool stories can be written about the oceans? Other characters can go into space, other dimensions and planes of existence, but Arthur is stuck playing king of the sea. I'm not saying it's impossible to keep a series going, but the degree of difficulty writing a GOOD series with Aquaman is far, far above writing almost any other character. Marvel tried with Namor, but lost focus and it became a self-parody. He even went "Savage".
All that said, I do look forward to seeing what they come up with. Ideally, I'd love to see Reis draw the series, but they might not want to tie him up in a gamble book. I'm prett much done with monthlies, so when the trade is ready, I'll be first in line to give it a shot.

Aquaman CAN be done right even considering the fact that he's water-based....It's all about the writing. I know that he won't be going into outer space or fighting Darkseid (hopefully) so if I know that going in I'm willing to support as many water-adventures as they can come up with providing the writing and art stays consistent with everything that makes Aquman unique and great. I'm really counting on Geoff Johns to pull through and redeem himself for his missteps on The Flash.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Flash was his Bomb. Flash as Been an Abortion ever since He showed up in Final Crisis ...., the only thing anywhere that I thought was good was Flash in Blackest Night.
It was bound to happen, with the Huge Success of Green Lantern, and even JSA Was pretty Damn good when He was writing it ..., then His Work On Boostergold. He's got too many good 1's these days for him to drive to bombs in back to back years.
+ His Heart seems to really be in the Aquaman Parts in Brightest Day ..., If he's got more of that, it would be good.
I'd be down for Reis on Anything at this point, with the Success of Blackest Night, ... The Dudes Real Good. I'd also wouldn't mind a few of the Guys drawing Generation Lost ... like Bennett . They have some nice pencils, can meet deadlines and great detail work.Last edited by BlackKnight; Mar 27, '11, 1:57 PM.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. Geoff Johns really does seem to have more of an affinity for writing Wally than he does Barry thus far. The most interesting parts of the new series are the parts that focus on the Rogues.... such as the Reverse Flash origin issue.
What artist do you guys want to see paired with Johns on Aquaman? I would love to see Gary Frank's take on Aquaman. I think he'd draw a pretty spectacular Mera.Comment

Some characters are just better constructed for long runs than others. Aquaman may be a character better served by a six issue mini series every other year than an ongoing comic.
Or it might mean retooling the character a bit. One issue Aquaman and Namor both have suffered from as character is being tied to underwater kingdoms as rulers. It really takes them out of the realm of being super heroes or super antagonists.
Personally, I think linking Aquaman to a coastal city/town might be more interesting. Let him do some stuff on land. He can be out of water for an hour at a time. Most superhero battles don't last that long. if they did, they'd probably destroy the Earth.
Now, I know that Atlantis stuff is what supposedly makes Aquaman unique, at least in the DCU, but if the same old idea keeps failing, try something different.
I'm with a lot of you that the artist is going to make a difference on the title, but with Johns writing it, he'll be able to get someone good. Maybe Reis.
I'm just wondering if this will pull Johns off Green Lantern or Flash. Flash really hasn't been great in my opinion, but I'd like for him to remain on GL.Comment
